Economics

Considering that Economics at Purdue is in the Krannert School of Business, I shouldn't worry as much? Also I remember reading that the econ majors at Purdue have like an 91% placement rate after 6 months.

what about econ majors from NYU?
how much will they make/

You won't get a job as an economist with just an undergrad degree in economics, no matter where you graduate from. That includes Harvard, Oxford, and whatever other schools you might consider very good. The standard qualification to actually call yourself an economist is an MA or MSc in economics. That doesn't mean you can't find good paying jobs though. There are lots of jobs in finance that pay well, but whether or not you land those jobs will have little to do with the fact that you majored in economics. History majors and philosophy majors land those same jobs, as do business majors and on occasion a few people who didn't even go to university.

So if you are genuinely interested in higher level economics and care about more than the monetary rewards, grad school is a necessity. If you just want to make some money then just graduate from a prestigious school that inflates grades, major in whatever you can get the highest grades in, work a couple of years, get an mba or something, become a member of middle management and live happily ever after I suppose.
