Hi, I really need some help. I haven't really done any EC's at my high school yet, but I am planning on starting this year. I have done sports all 3 seasons every year so far, though. The thing is, I have never had the time to stay after school for these clubs until now, since now I have my license and I can drive myself to and from school. The only problem is that I have kept reading from plenty of sources that starting EC's your junior year just looks like you're padding your college application. Am I completely screwed or not?

I think colleges will realize that playing sports all three season (they are all school teams right? Not like rec league soccer?) is a huge time commitment. It probably would have helped if you joined a club or two before, but just deal with what you can do now. Find a club (or a few) that you really like, and get deeply involved in it. Also, remember, ECs are not limited to school clubs.

Also, you can always explain that you had constant sports practice, transportation issues, etc on your app.

All three seasons every year? Wow. I would barely worry about other ECs. Maybe one club. That is a huge time commitment. Are you Varsity on these sports? Keep it up to show your commitment

sorry i couldn’t reply back earlier, as my internet was down. but thanks. it is tough, because practices are at the same time clubs are, and i have a brother and a sister who also play different sports, so its just kind of hectic going from place to place and still having time left over. I started Academic Decathlon, because I figured I would put my brains to good use, but i dont really know if there are many other clubs that fit me
