ECs favoured over Stats?

Do any universities favour ECs over hard stats like GPA and Standardised Test Scores?

I've just about given up on my GPA and SATs....but my ECs are pretty strong and can still be improved greatly.

[Rising Sophomore - Pathetic I know!]

You're a rising sophomore and you've already given up on your GPA and SATs??? No, that's not right! You've only done one year of high school, and it's the year whose GPA many colleges disregard when reviewing your transcript! And 9th grade is too early to take SATs at all.

Don't be a fool. Try to get good grades. Get tutoring if you need it. Study more. Talk to your counselor about it. Whatever. Do anything but give up! And study up for the SATs and take them when you're in 11th grade. That's when you're supposed to take them.

And no, I doubt that any university favors ECs over academics. That's just not the point of going to a university; it's an academic institution.

However, no matter how crappy you are academically, there is a college out there for you. Uh... you don't want to go to that college. So take my advice and pick yourself up from the freshman year slump. You can do it.

Was that even a serious post, Philosopher? 'Cause I can't believe that anyone........... never mind.

Most universities will decide your fate based on your GPA and SATs alone. The top, top schools base it on those two factors + others. So writing off your GPA and SAT is effectively writing off many schools in the country.

Ya it was a serious post :(

Damn it nothing's going right for me so far!

I really wonder what happened to my never give up spirit and determination.

Oh well

Sorry. :( I hope my first post helped, anyway. Everything I said there is absolutely true.

Ummm... what are your GPA and SAT scores, anyway?

Are you English? If so, why would you be concerned about your SATs?

Copying my idea for a thread, eh? ;)

Dude you really are pathetic!

I just got my SAT II Bio score back (690 - No Prep. Yay for my laziness!), I have a 3.7 GPA because I don't care enough to try and a 170 PSAT (well I don't really have an excuse except the fact that I didn't prep at all).

You don't see me whining and crying about it.

You have 2 and half years to worry about stats. Go and STUDY!

What are your Stats and ECs anyway?

No I'm not British, I'm Indian!

It's more like giving up hope...no matter how much I study grades are still the same...

Please tell us your stats.

lol, grades first....the rest comes later....

well if you dont like studying and you dont wanna try to improve, i see little point for you to wanna go to college. sorry to be a ***** and i know i am sounding like one, but you seriously need to get studying and stuff if you wanna go to college, since thats all your gonna be doing and hafto like it. it's no joke. you can do it, trust me. GPA and school stuff is the easiest to improve. SAT on the other hand, i know its difficult to improve. Plus, 690 isn't bad unless you wanna go to ivies.

^ o_O No I'm the one with 690. Anyway nikkigirl's right.

Right...either the subject's toughness has increased at the same rate your studying has or you're just lazy. If you study more and your grades don't improve, isn't that all the more reason to try harder to enjoy the "fruits of your hardwork".

Sorry that came out even more retarded than I intended it to be!
