I have designed a couple of professional websites (I also own a popular website) and other computer related stuff but I don't think I have proper 'extracurricular activities'. What can I mention in my ECs that don't require any proof/verification of sorts? Also.. how will I mention these websites on my application? Do I need to patent them or something?

Lastly.. I have a considerable amount of education achievements. However, most of that stuff I did in 5-8th grade. Does that work?

can you give the site links if you dont mind?

Nope, I can’t… want to remain confidential.

Anything below 9th grade doesn’t work

Is learning programming languages like c++, java, etc. considered EC ?

Are you serious, MakBoy? What the hell. :(

you could start by participating/wining a few programming contests, participating in hack-a-thons, making security( antivirus, malware) software for tech companies ( I am serious about this cause a person here got into MIT for making this) . OR you can make your own sweet virus :)

But actually You don’t have to show that you are too good too…You need to show them that you lack in some aspects too ( mention these in your essays) …that’s why you want to be learning stuff their university. They should wan’t to have you there…

@quiverfox - Who got into MIT for making antivirus?

some guy from Bangalore…don’t know his name though…sorry just heard of him.
Though He didn’t really make anti-virus, it was something more complex.

Actually, I don’t have enough time for doing that now lol… it was pretty recently decided that I would be pursuing my undergraduate studies in US. If I had known about this back after 10th, I would’ve done a lot of this kinda stuff. (I have recently completed my 12th)

I get your point.

@ExtremistEnigma Are you dropping an year?

well I didn’t know I would be going the next month till last october…What I did unknowingly still helped me get into a respected college for CS… Maybe even you did do stuff like that…

I came to CC just after finding out…

I did most of it during middle school. That’s what I’m asking… do they take that into consideration?

During high school, I was busy preparing for JEE and other engineering entrance exams.

@haultus… 6 months. Will be joining in from Spring 2014.

nope…no middle school…only 9th/10th/11th/12th. And it has to be Impressive

@ExtremistEnigma Which colleges are you planning to apply to? I’m not aware of which colleges take spring intake.
