So right now, I feel like my grades are worthy of acceptance to Penn State Main (My GPA is a 3.8, I'm slated to take 2 (maybe 3) APs next year, ranked 32 out of 244, and on my first try at the SATs i got a 1120.) The one thing I'm afraid of is my ECs.. I'm involved in my schools theater program, as well as "Panda Pride" (an all-girls school's pseudo-cheerleading.) I feel like I'm really limited in ECs and don't know how to boost that as a junior now. Any suggestions on how to make my activities look better? Will this hinder my chance of getting in (if I have one to begin with?)

Sorry about this addition to the "What are my Chances" threads. =/

well prettylady, you are going to get in. look, you see 32/244? that fraction of two seemingly meaningless numbers means you are getting in :D. As far as ECs. There are 8 spots on the Penn State application. Even if you have not done one EC you can pull of four good ones over the summer. Do an internship!!! seriously, i am not the best student. I have a 3.41 and a 1380. I got into penn state out of state. I got into the business school and then into the business sapphire program. I had an internship(a kickass one may i add). I learned so much. I have had it for this year only. What I suggest is getting an internship and learning everything about what you want to do. There is a part on the application where you talk about basically anything and i personally think it should be about your favorite activity and what it means to you. make sure you have one activity that you can say look here, i'm awesome. Get an intership and convey what it means to you and your future. Do some summer classes at a local CC. Take some classes at a sister Penn State school over the summer.

Regardless of all this... You will get in(for sure if you are in pennsylvania(sp??)) Try a little harder and you may be looking at higher schools next year.

Big schools like PSU are all about the numbers. ECs mean little. ECs don't have to be school related so if you run, bike, ski, volunteer, work--add that.
