EC's of the accepted

Hi, I read some 'chances' posts and are really schocked by them. Can people list some of their surprising EC's so I can get a sense of what people are achieving and what the best universities are expecting? Thanks !

See Zuma's Stat Roster

Yup. And that doesn't mean a person's particular EC will be applicable to you. Do something that you are passionate about! Seriously. They are looking for people, not college application padding applicants.

I personally gave up already, but still am mystified by how people can do all these things in high school: patents, online businesses, taking courses at a university...

Honestly, I can say I did NOT have a hook and I was accepted after infamously being deferred. Harvard truly does look for the connection between your passions and your intellect, and if they believe there's a disconnect between them in any way, out you go.

I had basically no extracurriculars in high school (although I did found a club) and I got in anyway...you don't need a killer ridiculous EC schedule by any means.

I would agree. Lately, the people who are getting accepted are not these people who have done 45 EC's, have 8 periods of AP's and a college course, and people who can barely sleep 3 hours. People who get accepted are people who "discover" their way through high schools, experiment with themselves, and manage their 24 hours logically.

And these people are HUMAN BEINGS. Don't give up because "your EC's suck." You yourself, and showing yourself, is better than any EC out there.

idk... my ECs... are basically leadership. take a look::::

Would absolutely LOVE to get into brown, but... hmm, idk. here's my FAQ:

new SATs 2400
PSATs National merit finalist
president of key
secretary of honor society
softball captain
science team captain and going to nationals! whoo hoo<< go us!!

yeah... RAWR GRR want to get in, but we will see.

btw, i'm a HS sophomore in senior year, so i might repeat everything again... just for the heck of it and better chance to get into early program. hmm... idk. i have 4.0 unweighted GPA, 6 and 7s on all IB exams (from freshman year taking them) and this year i just finsihed taking them again, hoping to have all 7s!!! and we will see... college next year? maybe.... undecided. so far stanford accepts, yale accepts, harvard's waiting list, and brown is "undecided"... so we will wait. if not, maybe one more year until i feel good and ready! and i'm 16... so idk

what do you think?? THANKS!!!!!!! :):):) do you think i'm CRAZY?? haha j/k

Uhm, quick question. This is the first time I head anyone say someone passed an IB exam their freshman year. What course was it?

IB diploma program ( i took it as a freshman in HS as a junior/senior b/c it's one of IB's rules... you have to be a senior or junior) what do you mean what course?

What do you mean "I took it as a freshaman in HS as a junior/senior?" Are you talking about your age?

no, i am suppose to be a sophomore now. but last year i was supposed to be a freshman. so i was a "junior" last year and a "senior" this year and even possibly next year... basically i might be retaking IB's senior year just to get into brown med... cuz thats my ultimate goal. since i already skipped so far ahead and took SATs twice. old ones: 1590, now 2400 new ones.

Oh? 1590 was your old score eh?

Then again, on this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=64744

if you would please scroll down, why do you state that you got 750 math, 600 english?

what is your aim? i will talk to you there and figure this out... are you using my account or something?

No I am not using your account. I am tracking your old posts by clicking on your screename. Thats what everyone does here, to see what a user has typed before, to re-read something that they want to go back to that another user has typed. Perfectly legal, that's why the feature is there.

And why do you want me to talk to you on aim? What's so hard about clearing things up here? Hmm?

this is really hard to access all these webpages. you can post our convo on here, i don't care. it would be a lot easier. here's my word:
you can POST any of our convo as long as you don't change a word.

and that's a promise on a stack of bibles.

I do not have AIM. Please read my post on the "my chances" thread. That will be where we will "discuss" from now on.

um... yeah... confusedaboutcollegegirl:
