The Amcas application has spots for 15 extra cirrucluars and awards. I was wondering what kinds of things I should include there. Should I list every club I was a memeber of? Or just the ones I held a position in? What about pre-med clubs or honor scoieties; do I mention them even if I didn't hold an exective position?

They also have a space to describe what I did in each of these acitivies. I was wondering how much I should write. What I have now is just a short paragraph for each (about 4 or 5 lines). Should I write more?

In this section you can also include any awards you recieved. Well I am on the dean's list and recieved several awards from my major department. Should I list them? Or is that too trivial?

What are they really looking for here? I don't want to overwhelm them w/ too much trivial stuff. But I don't want to miss out on pointing out the good stuff I did.

Just pick the 12-14 most important things that you think you did.

Rumors say - and again, I've never seen this officially - that you should stop yourself before you fill all 15.

I think your "short paragraph" sounds fine.

Yes, go with the most important/significant. If you don't have 15, I wouldn't worry about it. Someone told me that I should only put down the stuff I was proud of, so that meant that some things, like my membership in Alpha Kappa Delta, the national Sociology honorary almost didn't make it.

I'd only put dean's list down if you made it like 6 or 7 (out of 8) semesters. Of if you have something that sounds more impressive - I have a buddy who ran track and made the Big XII Commissioner's Honor Roll for all 6 semesters he was at Nebraska (he did two years at a CC). Sounds impressive right? But all he had to get was a 3.0 to make it. He was also on the Academic All-Big XII First Team for two years...only needed a 3.20 for that. But again, sounds really, really impressive.
