ECs on the application

I go to a magnet high school and I am in the engineering department so I have taken many engineering and science courses. However, during the summer between sophomore and junior year I developed an interest in econ. Since then, I have been involved in many ECs in that particular field. When I apply to Cornell, I am going to apply under the econ major in CAS. Is it bad that it took me so long to figure out I don't want to do engineering and that my ECs before junior year are unrelated to econ? Should I note this somewhere so that the admission officers don't think I was being lazy before junior year?

thanks

I’m not on the admissions committee, but they know it’s almost impossible to find your passion on the first shot. I think as long as you show that you have a strong interest in economics now, and consistently do ECs with it until you apply, you should be fine :).

If I remember correctly, CAS requires you write an essay that describes your intellectual interests and how they evolved. This would be a perfect place for you to communicate your situation to the admissions committee.

They do send them, I got one this week, and I also am a wee bit native American.
