ECs please come and help

Hi. Please somebody comment on my ecs, which are listed below, which are also my biggest weakness. Ill probably write those ones on my app…

table tennis club (co-founder, manager) devoted a lot of time playing this

chinese traditional music instrument (performed at a concert recently, but other than that has little chance to show anything else)

quiz bowl club (captain)

varsity cross country (just a member)

varsity basketB (just a member)

math club (state level all star)

math tutoring (I know this may sound crazy, a 8th grader in my school is already doing pre-cal, so I tutors him instead of him going to his normal lessons, lol)

so those seven are what I prepared for the common app
Can you please comment on which ones are weak and stuff and please give me advice on which five to put on the MIT app…

And yea…I know that EC consists of the activities and academic awards

I have decent academic awards on math from regional / state first to USAMO qualifier (although I probably getting a 2 or 3 outof like 42 on that thing). Research in university too. SO i feel fine for that

So please comment on the after school activity part alone

THANKYOU SO MUCH

Put down what you enjoy the most and what's most important to you. It sounds cheesy, but that's the truth.

... and don't try to over-embellish your app. I've got a bitter lesson. Had I let it flow more naturally, I might've gotten in.

arthas liu, you could also group ECs for the app as appropriate (such as "math activities" for instance, wherein you mention your state all-star results and your tutoring in the comments area briefly, or "varsity sports", since you play two sports but are not holding any special leadership positions on the teams). But as huangm suggests, choose the 5 most important to you. That is what MIT wants to know.

(And the ability of the student you tutor doesn't sound crazy at all. I know two students in my son's class who took AP Calc AB in 8th grade. ;) )
