ECs- will chance back!

Thank you! @1golfer1‌

Your Ecs are good, keep working hard. Some colleges look for high standardized test scores while some look for high GPAs (which you’ve taken care of) - make your shortlist accordingly. Duke, UChicago, Yale, UCLA, USC, NYU, Northwestern are good options.

Increase your SAT and your profile could turn out to be really strong.

Thank you for the response! @Digitallyshrewd‌ Yale would be amazing haha don’t think that I’ll get there but I can dream right

What is your intended major? You seem to have good ecs, so show passion in the things you love - all while raising your SAT- remember always set your goal for the SAT as a 2400 so you study to your maximum potential!

@pedestrian1123‌ I want to be a physical therapist, so kinesiology would be great. However not a lot of schools have this, so I also wouldn’t mind public health, human biology, or even biophysics. That is very good advice about the SAT- I will be sure to do so!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having scattered ECs. If anything, it would make you look well-rounded! However, your ECs and leadership positions are very impressive. As for the rest, it depends on what schools you’re planning to apply to. Good luck with the rest of your junior year!

Please chance me for Cal Poly SLO:

Thank you for the response! @smileesarefree‌

You’re ecs look great to me. If you’re worried about them looking scattered you could just focus on several that you’re most involved with/ most passionate about and just write about those. Good luck!

Thank you! @jumbowannabe‌

Hi,

Actually, I had the opposite concern of wondering if my own ECs weren’t diverse enough. I don’t think yours seem too scattered. It’s clear you have a focus in music, community service, and yearbook. It’s not as if you’re all over the place. I don’t think you should be too worried.

Your grades sounds good, and just get that SAT up. I’m not sure how qualified I am to suggest reach schools. Good luck!

Okay thanks for the response! @2016xiejia‌ good luck to you too!

I think your ECs are great! It’s not scattered at all- you demonstrate a strong interest in service and music, and
your involvement in the yearbook shows you are a strong leader (editor-in-chief is tough position to fill!). While you want to raise your SAT score, I also urge you to try the ACT! I always thought of myself as an SAT kid (which is what I’m guessing you are), but you just might surprise yourself!
All-in-all, as long as you keep with the track you’re on right now, I could see you being competitive for any of the top-20 schools (since you didn’t really specify which schools you were targeting) and as is the same for anyone, a reach in the Ivies.

Wow thank you so much! @StressyMessi‌

That’s a beautiful resume you have going there! I think someone previously said it best, it’s a well rounded application with lots of leadership experience. Wonderful!

I have one suggestion though. I noticed all of your volunteer hours (while a lot of hours) came from only one place, the Physical Therapy Center. Don’t get my wrong, 300+ hours is AWESOME but I think you need to diversify your volunteer hours a bit. I’ve been told that getting volunteer experience from more than one place is helpful. Honestly, I have the same thing going on (250+ hours from the hospital, but nothing much else). If you know of another place that you could get volunteer hours from, that may also help a bit.

And by NE, I assume you mean New England? You have almost the exact same score as me (I took the ACT and got a 30…I think that is about equal to a 2000 SAT). As of now, I’d look at Colby College (Maine), Bates College (Maine), Brandeis University (Mass) and Boston College (Mass). Those are quality, high ranked schools you could probably have a good chance at getting into if you applied today. If you were to pull your SAT to 2100+, however, I’d take a look at Brown University (Rhode Island), Cornell University (New York), and Dartmouth College (New Hampshire). Those are in the lower tier Ivy League…which is amazing!

I hoped this helped you. Could you take a look at my chance question? I’d appreciate it

This helped quite a bit thank you! I have thought a little about volunteering elsewhere too but this solidifies it, I will hopefully find another place this summer. I am quite familiar with Brandeis (sister is legacy) but I will look into the others. Hopefully I can get that SAT up!
I will go chance you now, thank you so much!!

EC’s look fine to me. I would group all the violin stuff together (church, state orch., fiddle club) to avoid scatteredness. With a 2100 on the SAT, or a 33 on the ACT you would have a decent shot at some ivies.

Thank you! @as9934‌

Your ECs are fine, not scattered - they show an interest in art. The SAT at a 2100 would make some reaches be the Ivies, BC, MIT (large reach), though I think that you could get into most other schools, like BU, UMass, Northeastern, etc.

Okay thanks! @allison1225‌

Hit 2350+ for SAT - key for Ivies, especially depending on what state you’re in.
