I look at people who are being told they have a really good shot into getting into ivy league schools who have like 5 billion ECs and from what I have bene told from colleges is that they don't like a huge list of ECs and instead prefer a more simple lsit that shows how actively involved you are and your continuation in a club or so.

So my question would be, does it really make a huge difference if someone has like 20 clubs they are in and someone who has 10? and both are actively involved

i have a hard time believing that they can be actively involved at the same level if one has 20 clubs and the other has 10. but yes, what the top schools care about the most is active involvement, passion, and commitment in your activities (and achievement!), and whether you have one or three doesn't matter that much. just as long as you can demonstrate these qualities - be very very deeply involved and committed - and LOVE - whatever you do, you'll be fine. (but yes, some care for well-rounded more than others...and others care more for well-lopsided ppl...)

Okay because some of these peoples ECs on this site are very ummm overwhelming i would say...

and I would say I am VERY involved in about 5 ECs and there are like 3 others that are kind of just there.
