I have noticed that Extra Curricular activities are very important to the admission process. I was wondering that some people who have so many EC's and stuff, is there enough space for them to put it on the application? How do the colleges know everything they did? I am interested in attending a UC and do they have unlimited slots for Ec's or do I have to put my best ones?

yea.limited spots. its actually really difficult to choose from all your EC's. haha...seriously, its really hard not to put something that you really want to put. Just put the one's that you did a lot of work in.

theres 8 spaces on the common app, youre supposed to put the best/ones you care the most about on top.
you can also attach a transcript to list more/go into greater detail, but i read somewhere that admissions officers dont always read the transcript, esp. if you list the same things you put on the app.

i do wonder how much you should include on your transcrtpt though
also...possibly a question i will be ridiculed for, but can you put "babysitting" under your ecs/job experience (i lifeguard too but ive babysat all 4 years...) and is there a better word for it.. haha like "child care" or something.. that would be legit?

I was under the impression most universities will allow you to submit a resume. I think thats what hilary6 means by transcript. It can't hurt to supply one...if you are borderline I would HOPE they would look into it.

yes yes thats what i meant

sure babysitting is child care... it's all in how you word it.. .the better it sounds the better it is lol

also on the common app there is a section for "additional information" that can be used to elaborate on things that are important.

DO NOT give them a huge list to wade through. It will just make their eyes cross. Things like National Honor Scoiety or member of this or that club are not too helpful. More helpful are ECs that have been multi-year involvements and hang together with your interests.

ok theres one club that ive "sort of" been in for all 4 years, the first year i was more active, the 2nd year i just signed up and so on and so forth, but the club doesnt do much anyways. i have lots of other ECs that im a lot more involved in which i plan to list first, but i have one space left: should i put this club? (i have a few other options to fill the last space with, but this particular one is a spanish club, and since im going to spain this summer/have taken the language for 5 years/plan to do something with it in college, i think having spanish club on my app would stregthen it... what do you guys think?)

by the way the reason i havent done much with the club is that a) i dont have a lot of time anyways and b) they really dont do anything this year, the only time i heard of was when they went to a mexican restaurant once...and i couldnt make it
