I am not sure whether or not that the amount of ECs I have is enough or not enough.
My ECs are:
Rowing - I have been rowing two and a half years, I have won many medals, I row 8-10 hours a week, have gone to nationals (but as a cox as I got my appendix out just before we had to go...) and will be going to nationals to row next year
Piano - Have been playing piano for about 8 years, stopped getting lessons in mid 2007 because I didn't like my new teacher, and have just been teaching myself songs/playing by ear since. Might go back to lessons with my old old teacher mid this year
Debating - I have been debating for about a year
I also help at an after school care place for about an hour a week.
Are these good ECs and are they enough? I think having a few ECs that you're really passionate about is better than having heaps that you've only just started but then again I am not sure...
Thanks!

dude its quality over quantitiy it dosnt not matter how “many” you have its the quality of what you do

The rowing should be enough. the others are extras! what kind of erg do you pull?

you might even be able to get recruited… crew’s a pretty competitive prep school sport ;O

I’m doing JV Crew next year and I’ll be Varsity Squash and I’ll be JV Football and maybe JV Soccer next year as a freshman but I think one or two sports clash :(

swiss, i thought it was 1 sport/season, so 3 tops? not sure, though… which school are you going to again?

^think he was/is deciding whether to play football or soccer

also going to nationals for crew would def be enough for you to get recruited/push from coach in the adm office. but what is your ERG?

Well we’ve sort of just started up rowing again (nationals was in the beginning of March, and we had really intense training, so my coach has decided to have a break until about now) and it’s been a while since I have erg-oed so I would have NO idea!
But as soon as we do one I’ll let you know
I am in light weight (when I was coxing I was still 2 kilos or 4 pounds in american too light so I gad to get rocks in the boat lol) devision and one girl who had really long hair cut it all off just a few hours before her race so she could be in light weight! And another girl drank two litres of water so she could be heavy enough to be in it ahaha

Quality trumps quantity. Passion is what many schools look for. Willingness to experiment, fail, test boundaries.

Adcoms can spot “resume” padding in a minute.

Do what you love and then find the school that loves you back the way you are.

Hcos- Yeah I’m deciding between soccer and crew, I’ll be a freshman at my local public school next year but it’s in the top 50 nationwide so it’s all good. But I’m gonna apply to BS’s as a repeat and like well my ERG is good compared to other 8th graders but nothing compared to the guys on the crew team since I’m not on the crew team yet idk but my HS’s Varsity have already been to nationals …

Ohh right the ERG question wasn’t fo me lol…

oh p.s I am from Oz so I went to Australian Nationals, not US Nationals in case you were wondering :)

That’s still amazing…
