I am very nervous about my EC's now. I've been looking at other people's EC's and they are very intriging.. I am only the captain of Colorguard, have gold medals for Winterguard, Secretary of NHS, did cheer and track, and 100 hours of volunteer work. Is this bad for somebody who wants to go to a moderately difficult college--GWU? I'm a bit nervous now because I am not in the Math Club, or traveled to another country, etc..

Its not about having a laundry list of EC’s, colleges want to see that you have leadership roles in the things you are involved in. Your EC’s seem to be good for GWU.

Okay, thank you. I also have a really high chance (I know the coaches and my coach for Color/Winter guard taught these coaches too) to be in a world-ranked winter guard. I could be able to compete with other winter-guards’ around the world/US! How good will this look on college applications if I do make it this world-ranked guard?

For those of you who do not know, color/winter guard is dance, rifle, sabre, and flag. Color guard competes with the band and winter guard is individually and competes in a gym.

Anything that sets you apart from the herd is a plus. Your goal is show the admissions people who you are behind your grades and SAT scores, I think being in the winter-guard is something that will help you standout.

Especially since it is not a well-known EC. Not too many people are in winter guard, and it competes world wide too.
