Your chances of admission are excellent.

Thanks! I’m also In-State.
I’ve heard applying early enhances admission chances;is this true?

I think so. My S applied around the end of Sept. and had his acceptance in early Nov.
That was four years ago though.

Oh,okay.
What were your son’s Stats (SAT,GPA)?
Did he take any APs or SAT subject tests if he did which ones?
Thank You!

His stats were well below yours. He had mostly honors classes, two AP’s and one dual enrollment class at the Comm. College. He did not take any SAT subject tests.

I’m from Brookline, Mass. I’m just wondering if that increases my chance of getting accepted because there’s not that many apps coming in from Boston area? Do many people come from out of state here?

We are also from OOS. When we visited this summer, the admins told us that just 18 to 20 percent of the students are OOS, so it is important to apply early. My son is just a junior, so he has a year to wait.

^^^ Doesn’t ECU limit their OOS percentage to 18% per state mandate, or is that only for U of North Carolina?

They do limit their OOS Admissions to 18%.

The application became available today, I just submitted it. Good luck!

prunkss is correct… 18% OOS. This applies to the entire 16 university UNC system. ECU is part of the University of North Carolina system.

As for oos representation… mostly VA,MD and NY/ NJ students.

Thanks for info

Woo! Accepted. That was quick… now on to the Honors College/Business Scholars application. GO PIRATES.

Arrgghh…Congrats prunkss.

First and Foremost I would like to say hello. I’m a newbie so just wanted to say hi.
I’m going to be applying to ECU toward the end of this week and I was just wondering how high you think my chances of getting in are. In school I generally get
A’s in most subjects, with the exception of math C’s and 1 D and a few hiccups Junior year(Online Spanish). Anyway despite math issues I always take honors classes when available in all core subjects and I’ve taken 2 AP classes as well. Also have more than required history and science credits, multiple technology classes etc. The D in math was in pre calculus however to help redeem myself I am in AP Calculus now.
My gpa is roughly a 3.5 or possibly higher unweighted. I do know weighted it is a 4.025 I believe at last check anyway. Also ACT score was a 21 altogether. I plan on taking SAT this saturday and again in November. Do you think my chances are fairly good at getting into ECU as it is? Of of curious also how does ncsu look? I think my math grades may hurt me over at ncsu. who knows though.

Thanks so much!

AK47,

Best of luck to you on your application! I actually just got accepted to ECU the other day for the Fall Semester of 2013! I have a 3.1 GPA weighted (tried to fail out of the school I was attending sophomore and freshman year, nonetheless, not a reasonable excuse) and a 21 ACT score. So with your grades you should be fine, but be sure to apply early because ECU accepts boat loads of people on early applications. I hope all goes well with your application. So excited to be a Pirate! ARRRGGGHHHHH!

So I am an out of state student and I applied to ecu on September 10. My weighted GPA is 3.654 and unweighted is about a 3.5. I’ve taken about 4 dual enrollment classes, three honors classes and one ap class. I’ve also taken 4 years of French and I played soccer for three years and I’m in 3 clubs. I still haven’t heard from ecu and I’m getting a little scared. They say they have everything they need on pirate port besides my classes in progress, which I sent in about 2 weeks ago.

It’s too soon to worrry. Hang in there. Five years ago, my S (instate) applied in early to mid Sept. and received his acceptance letter in the first week of November.

They now said that I have to retake my sat, so does that mean if I don’t get a high enough score that I won’t get in?

What was your orignal SAT score that you sent with your application?

My cousin has a 2.7 goal, took honors, AP classes, join clubs, and a 26 on ACT. do she have a shot? The reason her gpa a 2.7 is because she played around her freshman year.
