Update: got a 10 on my essay. 33 combined english/writing. I’m fairly happy with that. Will that help me with admission?

For the Eagle Scout put “Eagle Scout Candidate”. My daughter had to put in a similar phrase for an award she was finishing up. Vandy loves Eagle Scouts! Both sons were Eagle Scouts and were admitted. They always list the #'s of Eagle Scouts they have in the Freshman class.

@momofmykids I just put “Eagle Scout” as the EC and put “See Additional Information” for the pending November/December Board of Review. Is that a good way to go about it? Or should I put “Boy Scout” in the position spot and “Eagle Scout Candidate” in the awards/honors?

I don’t think you can go wrong with"Eagle Scout Candidate" in the Awards/honors. You aren’t exaggerating the truth. You should also send Vanderbilt an update once you’ve had your Eagle board of review. I can take a while to actually get the award in your hand, and passing the Eagle board of review is the last requirement. In the additional information your could describe your project and say when you expect to have your board of review.

I put "Eagle Scout–See “Additional Information” and explained it in the “Additional Information” section.

(BoR confirmed for Dec. 18)

By the way: update on my application–I wrote my CA essay on living as a first generation child in the United States; I got a 32 on the ACT (34/33/33/28) [My other 32 was 34/30/30/32]; and I requested an alum interview but she did not respond and the deadline has passed.

I still welcome “chances”.

My son got in ED with the same ACT score and he is an Eagle Scout also. But…that was in 2010. It is more difficult now. My daughter applied ED this year with a 32 as well. We are keeping our fingers crossed… good luck to you too!

Aw, good luck to you! Hopefully your daughter and I both get in! @momofmykids

Good to hear they like scouting. D is thinking about EDII and is a Gold Award candidate, expecting the award sometime this spring.

Forgot about this thread. I got in. Most likely due to my eagle scout award. :)
