YO guys so I am international and the guy that interviewed me when he visited my school was Mr. Greg Sneed and I just randomly checked CMC’s admission officer page and saw that he isn’t there anymore… Then I checked his Linked and apparently he’s working at Grinnell College now. It says he started at Grinnell November 2014. So weird. Do you guys think my interview is still considered as part of my application?

Interview notes are placed in your file at the time of the interview. It won’t mater that he’s no longer there. I had this same issue at another College.

If you’ve talked to any admissions officer at CMC, it was probably pretty apparent that CMC has no idea what kind of videos they’re going to get. It could be anything you want. If you’re stressing about it, don’t submit one. If you saw you could submit a video and thought “oh hey, I know exactly what I’m going to submit!” Then submit one.

It absolutely doesn’t hurt to not submit one. It absolutely doesn’t hurt to not submit one if you didn’t have an interview.

And they do take arts supplements… I sent in photographs that I took.

@ayetee123 yep, that’s what I did!

@ayetee123 yep, that’s what I did!

Has CMC asked for any of your grades???

@ayetee123 your school isn’t allowed to tell you if they do

2 weeks to go. Where does everyone plan to apply for Plan B? Any EDIIs?

How are we notified?

@HSAnon1997 It’s online they’ll send out an email with a link to the portal, it’s usually the weekend before the 15th so 13/14

If i don’t get in I might ED2 Pomona, but more likely i’ll just apply to a bunch of east coast LACs and ivies

S may apply RD to Middlebury, Williams, Penn, Cornell, BC, and Northwestern.

So do any of you guys know if CMC actually defers applicants? Cuz I know lots of LACs don’t

According to my Son’s school’s naviance chart, no applicant (from his school) has been deferred in the past 5 years. Lots of rejections and almost no relationship between grades/scores and acceptances. I believe lots of the acceptances were recruited athletes.

It seems CMC has gone away from deferrals for ED applicants. Since the applicant has a better chance with ED, deferrals don’t make much sense. Lagunatic has a point regarding some accepted athletes. But CMC is too rigorous and selective to admit an athlete who can’t compete in the classroom. It’s not fair to anyone involved. But athletics, like legacy, are legitimate hooks at CMC and most other LACs. But they are really mostly tiebreakers for a applicant who measures up in most other metrics. For example, an applicant who might be on the wrong side of the 25-75 mark on GPA and SATs might get in with that hook. But one who is below the 25-75 area stands little chance.

84stag, I do not disagree. The vast majority of the admits on naviance are in the 25 - 75 range (in fact, more so than for the HYPS admits). What is more surprising to me is the number of > 75 percentile applicants that are denied. Lots of red X marks at the 4.3 - 4.5 / 32 - 34 ACT coordinate.

Hey guys, I applied ED 1 to CMC as well. Anyone know when exactly we’re getting the results? The past two years were released slightly earlier than the 15th (on Friday both times), which is why I ask.

Best of luck to everyone!

@Lagunatic What are the average accepted stats on your son’s naviance? No one from my school has ever been accepted so there’s no data

Not many acceptances from my son’s school either. The stats are all over the map but the avg is a 4.2/31 ACT. As I said, lots of rejections for better stats and some acceptances for lesser stats. CMC is probably the most unpredictable school of all those my son is considering.

Last year we had 3 accepted from my school out of 15 applicants. All through regular decision.
