SO nervous

Hi all, applied ED international to CMC, are results usually posted online on the 13th/14th of December?

The CMC admissions website says “by the 15th.” I think nearly all will get notified at 5 pm CMC (Pacific) time. The exception will the recruited student athletes who may find out earlier. Some ED applicants at other schools who were in that category have already been accepted. From looking at Collegeconfidential forums the last few years, everyone here got their results at 5 pm on the 15th. Maybe a current CMCer can shed some light on this.

But previous posts said that they come out earlier?

Just for reference:

I guess it’s anyone’s guess when results will come out. In 2012 and 2013, December 15 fell on the weekend. This year, it’s on a Monday. My prediction: either Friday, 12/12, or Monday 12/15.

@Lagunatic Every year CMC and the other top colleges and universities reject applicants with 35 ACT/2200+SAT/4.3+GPA. There are enough applicants with those metrics that if that’s all they were looking for, the 25-75 median would be tighter and higher. I have no personal information, but my “educated” view is that the committee looks long and hard at the ED applicants. They reject a decent number right away. What’s left is a big batch of remarkable applicants and they can’t take them all. The decision then becomes less on the numbers and more on the “feel” and “does this person represent who CMC wants to represent us as a student and future leader?” Those “hooks” mentioned earlier are also very important. We talk about the acceptance rate being around 11%; the actual “non-hook” acceptance rate has got to be much lower, perhaps half that number. Knowing this fact, there’s just so many awesome kids who don’t get in. Just look at the numbers of those rejected from CMC on this forum from prior years.

Last year ED1 results were posted online at 5PM PST on Friday December 13th. A message was sent earlier with the link and time they would be posted.

84Stag, what appears different about CMC (at least based on my son’s naviance data) is that there is more variability to acceptances at the very upper right corner of the naviance charts. In fact, while many top schools have almost universal acceptances at these stats, CMC is close to 100% declines. OTOH, CMC has accepted a few closer to the middle of the chart.

I agree that it is likely the result of the school focusing on fit as much as, or more than, grades and scores. The upshot, however, is that CMC is probably a “likely” acceptance for very few applicants.

are we supposed to get an email about when we are going to get notified soon?

yeh the process is so nervewracking

So many schools have emailed ED applicants on the exact date and time of the admission decision. Is CMC gonna send us one?

one week left…

Im a recruited athlete and I have not heard anything. Does that mean I didnt get in?

mimbb345, did the coaching staff say they could get you through admissions?

Lagunatic, no but the coach acted like I could get in. I just do not think she could garuntee I could get in. She said that if I had applied last year I would have gotten in, but she just doesnt know what the pool is like this year and if admissions would take me.

I think I just find out when everyone else does… I am soo nervous! I only want to go to CMC.

My son was told that the coaches have some influence, but only at the margin. They cannot get an unqualified candidate admitted but can break a tie. My son doesn’t know if he would be considered recruited–he met the staff and received some letters from the coach, but no promises were made.

My son’s counselor said the D3 recruiting process is unreliable and there have been instances where students were shocked they were denied.

are they gonna send an email??

They changed the student portal status from submitted to “Application Status for ____________”, so I guess that means they’re getting ready to enter the decisions!
