ED 1 class of 2019 Thread

ahhh thanks for letting us know! I’m getting so nervous/

Monday is going to be awful.

@lampdresser did you call them?

I emailed them, they confirmed that it was Monday:

“Admission decisions for ED I applicants will be released through your application portal on 15 December at 5 pm PST. Thank you.”

Good luck guys. Waiting out the next few days is going to be so hard…

I don’t wanna wait through the weekend…

@Kaigo00‌ Thanks for the info. I hope all of you get in.

how many ED applicants do you guys think CMC got this year

Around 700. 675 people applied as Early Decision last year.

so nervous lol

they sent an email today confirming Monday 5pm pst

Im thinking of applying ED2, for cmc, do you think that it would increase my chances much? or should I just go with regular decision so that if I get in I can still see financial aid from other schools and compare? and good luck to all you guys who applied ED1

Williams notified EDs yesterday. Apps were up 7% vs last year and 45% of the freshman class on was admitted ED.

Is there gonna be a copy of the acceptance/rejection letter when we log in on monday?

CMC recorded 9% increase in the number of applicants last year… (http://cmcforum.com/news/01292013-cmc-announces-9-increase-in-applications</a>) I’m so nervous now…

@shlee15‌ That article is from last year. However, from looking at the numbers from other LACs this year, I expect CMC’s applicant pool to rise similarly this year. That means the accept rate will continue to go down, perhaps to 10% (or below). As we already know, CMC is THE most selective LAC in the country. Last year it had the lowest acceptance rate; lower than Williams, Swarthmore, Pomona, and the other “elites.” Expect for this trend to continue.
So, for those who get it, bravo! For those who don’t, hold your head high and realize that when you shoot for the top, you don’t always get there. But you are better for the journey.

Im so nervous, its exam week for me and its pretty hard to focus.
Do you guys think I’ll get in? i have a low GPA but i guess a pretty rigorous course load.
Im taking the IB diploma (Econ, Eng, Chem HL) (not in the US) and have a 3.5 gpa, 33 ACT
2 teacher recs 1 counselor rec, and 1 supplemental cross country coach rec
Average ECs: 2 sports (1 varsity, 1 JV), 3 community service clubs, Investment club, 2 musical instruments, founder and president of school running club
I guess my essay was pretty unique, but im not sure how much that’ll help.
I hope cmc consider me even with my gpa and ECs. Then again, the applicant pool is full of high caliber students, so im not expecting much.

Good luck to you all!

@84stag‌ I am aware of the date. However, I am concerned that the trend will continue on this year (as you mentioned, perhaps lower than 10%). Hope we all get in. :D

My son’s friend just got into Columbia with lower stats than him. He is hopeful but realistic about his chances of getting into CMC and is beginning to believe that a better strategy might have been to ED at an Ivy or a less selective LAC (like WIlliams or Amherst). He would much rather attend CMC but he’s worried that he may have wasted his ED opportunity.

They say that usually the top 25% of applicants use College Confidential and last year CMC admitted about 38% of ED1 applicants soooo lets all get in!!

I’m doing ED2 because I’m hoping that my 1st semester senior grades will make a difference but tbh for my school, this school has worse stats than stanford in terms of people getting in (ofc less people apply but literally out of the 200+ applicants in the past 5 years, less than 5 have gotten in)
