“Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.”
-Oscar Wilde

i never thought i’d make a CC account but… i love that you guys are sharing quotes and poems, so here goes. this is my favorite poem, written by a Wes grad

Slide
by Kate Colby

You and I inhabit thresholds, clinging to neither here nor there, and to
and: this is a threshold of no relief, of interrogative light and obviated
shadows, of questions flattened between clapboard slides,
in laboratories of hanging frames—in a potential frame,
the next moment slumps beneath the shadow of the overhang.

They call it earthquake weather, a day like this, of reflected light
and leveling heat of no relief, of corners around which
and angles of incidence jellied in consomm

I really love this one:
“If you can do good things for other people, you have a moral obligation to do those things. Not a choice, a responsibility.” - Uncle Ben

And I can really relate to this one:
“I hated every minute of training, but I said, “Don’t quit”! Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion’.” - Ali

If I’m admitted to Wes, I will spend my days studying physics, math and chemistry, and then after class, I will go hang out on Foss Hill with my friends and read poetry. THIS is what I love about Wesleyan. Doesn’t matter what you are majoring in! I can have an in-depth and sophisticated conversation about anything with anyone.

I love how this forum is so chill compared to other colleges, sharing quotes and poems is a great idea!

Men do change, and change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass. - John Steinback

You guys rock. you guys rock so much. i love you all and think that by the qualities that i have seen on this thread you should all get in.

25 hours and 15 minutes

And the listening to MGMT, Santigold, and Das Racist begins. Lord help me.

i am DYING

This forum is waaay more chill. I’m seriously rooting for all of you.

This is what I love about Wes… Everyone is so excited about attending the school! It seems like Wes is never anyone’s backup choice.

I’m dying for all of you, especially my D – even more so than typical first choice anxiety, because a school made of everyone on this thread would have to be the coolest place to spend four years. Good luck to all!

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I’ve become SO emotionally attached to Wesleyan it’s starting to worry me If I get a rejection letter its going to destroy me. I don’t want to apply to any other schools. People are always trying to reassure me that where ever I end up, it will all work out. However, I’m having trouble believing it. I require certain accommodations for some personal reasons, and Wesleyan is the only school that offers them. If I’m not accepted, I’m thinking about doing a gap year and working in a microfinance bank or in a renewable energy firm in a developing country. What are your plans if you are not accepted?

Less than 24 hours everyone… get ready…

It feels like everyone in the world released today. How am I supposed to study for two finals when I feel like this?

I was at Wes for a high school track meet last week and chatting with some of the students. They told me that they hope I get rejected from Yale tomorrow so that I will join them at Wes next year…and it made me think…that sounds like a lovely scenario.

AAAAH i was doing a french quizlet and i got distracted and typed wesleyan as the answer to one of the words D: D: D: D: D:

18 hours 31 minutes…
