ed 1 vs. ed 2

what are the differences and which top schools have both?

Are you serious? This information is available on the I-N-T-E-R-N-E-T.

ED1 you apply by November 1 and it's binding.

ED2 you apply with everyone else by January 1, but your app goes into a different pile because you've essentially told the school they're you're top choice and you'll go there. Yup - it's binding too.

I'd recommend searching online to find this information... you realize, of course, that whoever would respond to your question would do the same thing you would.

More importantly, instead of focussing on the * admissions process, * you may want to focus on the TOP SCHOOLS ** THEMSELVES. ** The college admissions process exists so you can enroll at a school that fits you, not the highest school on the shelf. I'd recommend looking for the PROGRAMS you want, and not how to get in.

But if you still want to know, go to the pages of schools you're interested, and go to admissions, and they'll likely have a page talking about it.

fhimas, some schools have different deadlines for ED 2 and RD applications (usually Jan 1 and Jan 15).

Fair enough, but the bottom line of my message holds true: find a school that fits, then look at the means to get in. And again, none of us, even seasoned senior members are talking encyclopedias of the admissions processes of colleges around the country.
