ED 2 and RD thread

I see. I hope it’s good news for you! the SFS hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I’m almost going crazy waiting…but they did say on the site that it will take about two weeks so I suppose the latest I will hear back is by next week.

I left my letter at home and have gone outstation for a while. It says the deadline to submit the deposit is by this 15th right?

Yes, the deposit deadline is February 15th!

Guitar500 - Thanks  I went away to lick my wounds about Vassar but I think I have a chance with 1 of my other 9 schools haha having a NIGHTMARE atm with Brandeis not understanding my HS transcripts urgh, and Smith emailed me about fin aid and then haven’t replied to my questions. But other than that it’s all good :)

I got my award today (via email because the oh-so-reliable Mexican post office told me international mail’s taking around a month to arrive), and it’s great! It’s very close to our estimation, so it’s definitely doable. Yay!

So lilredboxes, how did it go? Did you get an answer to the review?

And good luck MattieR91! I hope the Brandeis issue gets solved quickly.

Guitar500, I’m SO glad you’ll be able to afford Smith! I remember your posts from the fall and I’m delighted you’ll be able to go. I hope the rest of you will be able to resolve soon whatever issues are outstanding and you’ll become Smithies as well! My daughter, a senior, has truly LOVED her experience at Smith; I wish for you the same meaningful, challenging, and expanding experience she’s had.

Was the 500 dollar deposit waived for anyone?

Loverowing12 - not that i know of… I paid my deposit yesterday!

Guitar500 - yes i did hear back from the SFS and they increased my award significantly  my family still has to pay quite a bit but it’s so much more manageable now. Congratulations to you  i’ll probably be seeing you around this fall then!

Awesome! Congratulations to you too!

Loverowing12 - Yeah, mine was waived. We were confused because we got an error message from the credit card, and when we called it turned out it was because the fee had been waived. We were pleasantly surprised, especially because international flights aren’t cheap!

Mine was waived too. I got super confused. I believe early writes come out this week. So exciting! More Smithies<3

Haha, us too. We thought something was wrong with the credit card and freaked out XD
Oh, yeah, I had forgotten about early writes! :D

How does the fee get waived? :/

I’m assuming that if your family qualifies for a lot of financial aid, then the deposit will get waived.
Would those who’ve been accepted please post their stats?
Like GPA, what you wrote about in your essay, prospective major, ECs…
I’m applying to transfer and I am curious as to what kinds of students are being accepted.

Hey i was admitted to the class of 2016 but took a gap year and am now a 2017er…we can’t post links here, buuut for those of you who havent joined, come join our non-official page on fb…we are kind of just getting to know each and having a bit of fun…it is called Smithies-Class of 2017

Does anyone know when we have to fill out housing/other forms?

You’ll get a welcome package a while after you send in your deposit. Don’t worry you’ll have plenty of time.

Hey for those who applied for Smith, did you get a chance to do a local interview with Smith’s admission officer or alumni? I am waiting for Smith’s RD decision, which will be out this Friday. But I just realized that I didn’t do an interview. I knew some of the people who applied to Smith from my school in previous years did interviews. I want to know if not doing an interview would make me lose my chance of getting accepted? OMG I am nervous!

An alumni emailed me about an interview but I kinda just ignored it…Oops. Idk I don’t want to go to Smith that badly so I didn’t feel the need to interview but I’m sure even if you didn’t you still have a shot at admittance.

Interviews are recommended but not having one is not a “deal-breaker.” Good luck to you and all the candidates. Friday is coming fast!
