ED 2 Questions?

are the pool of applicants more selective than RD applicants?

My gpa (w) is a 3.78 and uw is 3.38, and if I applied RD it would be 3.85-3.9 w and 3.42+ unweighted.
I also got a C+ in AP calc for the first quarter, and as by the end of 1st semester I was hoping for a B (I already increased my brade to a B- currently)

Should I choose to do ED2 or RD? .

ED2 is going to have a slightly higher acceptance rate than RD, but not as high as ED I as recruited athletes will have used EDI. Your GPA will bump up a significant amount by RD, so I would recommend that in your situation (although EDII might allow you to have first semester transcripts in).

However, with a 3.42 unweighted, your chances are incredibly slim. CMC is a very selective college. What do your SAT/ACT and ECs look like?

@yonceonhismouth hi, I have several rewards in figure skating (3 hours training a day, 11 yrs) and my figure skating club (award for most accomplished at my club). I am also a precalc tutor starting this year and I have been a figure skating instructor for 4 years in 2 places 6 hours a week. Also volunteers 2+ years as an assistant instructor for a program for kids with mental illnesses

My sat score is 1310, my gpa has an upward trend

I noticed that the resuults thread of CMC a few years back had many people getting accepted with 3.2 or 3.3 uw gpa

Do u know if the pool is more competitive RD than Ed?

also does anyone know if you can get deferred from ed2?

BTW, the RD is 9%, and I think ed is 18-20%?

There are no deferrals from ED 1 or ED 2. It’s either accepted or rejected. And as for the ED acceptance rate, that higher number is a bit misleading, as it reflects athletic commits. The actual “unhooked” acceptance rate is barely better than RD.

In all honesty, with your current GPA, you’d need 1500+ SAT or 35+ ACT to have a realistic shot. There are so many 4.0/1450 kids outright rejected that anything less will make it tough going. By the way, for the last several years, CMC has rejected someone with perfect SAT or ACT scores.

Good luck.

@84stag @camwow You can get deferred from ED, but it’s rare (supposedly under 5%)
