ED 2

Does Ed 2 boost your chances of admission? Is it the same acceptance rate as ED?

It will be different for every school.

In general ED2 can provide a boost as you commit to attend if accepted. But ED2 does not usually have the same acceptance rate as ED1. Some reasons for that are 1) athletes, legacy are ED1 and 2) I’ve heard admissions officers say that the ED2 pool is often not as strong as the ED1 pool as it includes applicants who feel they need to wait for their first semester senior year grades or an additional standardized test result to boost their chances of admission.

ED2 also has a fair share of athletes. Many schools adopted ED2 for athletes or so I am told. Some athletes, weren’t ready to commit at ED1,may have gotten rejected from their ED1 school, or are waiting on test scores as they took ACT or SAT a last time to see if they could get their score to the level it needs to be per the coach.
That being said non-athletes also apply ED2 and get in. I don’t believe the Common Data set breaks out ED1 from ED2, so it may be hard to assess acceptance rates.
