@wluapplicant me too! i’m so nervous and this wait is killing me. only 23 hours left though!! i feel like my application is almost good for them but not quite so we’ll see
@wluapplicant also you are totally qualified!! i have some friends that have gotten in with similar stuff. it seems like they’re really holistic in their admissions so i wouldn’t stress too much. good luck though!
Less than 2 hours remaining! Excited but nervous!
Did the results come out? How did everyone do?
I got in! Extremely excited to be attending W&L next fall!!
Denied.
Here are my stats:
SAT: 1320
GPA: 3.6 Weighted (once you take AP’s you only have a weighted GPA at my school)
AP’s: APUSH 4 (I also took a college level Business Class for three college credits)
Extra Curriculars: VP of Model Congress, Catalogued Art (this is a graduate level position), member of Museum Council near my area, tutoring 8 underclassmen, was a member of several clubs previously before becoming VP.
Strengths/hooks:
I showed strong demonstrated interest (visited the summer before my Junior year, visited a professor within my field of interest, went to every single W&L information event nearby [50-mile radius], visited again the summer before my senior year and on the first day my mother and I spent six hours meeting with five different professors [all of them reported back to admissions btw]), my freshman grades were poor but I have a very strong upward curve for the past two years (I’ve only made grades above a 3.5 for two years, very hard at my school), I have very rare interests (Medieval and Renaissance Studies and Museum Studies), my mother went to the same college and is friends with someone on the admissions team, and I go to a top-tier Public School.
Weaknesses: SAT, GPA, and lack of AP’s
Recommendations: Latin Teacher, French Teacher, Vice Principal, Reverend, and Guidance Counselor. I do not know what they said because it is against the agreement to look at them.
Disclaimer: I understand that my numerical stats are below average for W&; however, for specific reasons, it was a huge shock. Nonetheless, congratulations to W&L’s Class of 2023! I wish you well in your future endeavors!
