And haven’t taken Subject Tests yet, but planning on it.

I don’t usually answer chance me threads because of how unpredictable the admissions process really is. Just from looking at your stats it seems like you have a good shot. I know Duke admits at least 15% NC students every year. But really there are so many other factors like essays and letters of recommendation that can make or break your application, so I don’t know enough about you to make a definite judgement. I can tell you that applying ED will definitely increase your chances since you are showing commitment to Duke, and colleges like high yield rates. If I were you I would put a lot of thought into your essays and make sure you get stellar recommendations. Try to improve your SAT score if you can, and I recommend taking at least 3 subjects tests just to be safe.

I applied to Duke ED 2023 and I got deferred the first round. Miraculously, I found out I got accepted! So don’t give up hope. I did not submit any additional letters of recommendations, appeal letters, awards, etc. I’m assuming the reason I got deferred in the first place was because Duke wanted to see my first semester grades. So my advice to you is don’t slack off. I also got a handwritten note from my regional admissions officer commending me for my contributions to my community. Since you have a lot of volunteer hours I would emphasize that in your application.

Also, you should apply to other schools EA just in case (as many as you can). This may sound cliche, but there really is no guarantee. I only got accepted into 11/25 of the many selective schools I applied to. Apparently you can get rejected from some schools for “over qualifying.” I’m sure with your stats you will get into very prestigious colleges. I wish you the best of luck! I hope this helped you. If you have any questions I can answer I will gladly help.
