Villanova says on their website the ED decisions will come out “By December 20.” Does that mean they will come out leading up to them or on December 20?
Around this time last year, someone asked the same question and someone else responded:
“I called and the lady said still around the 20th. They were a bit earlier last year (2016), the 16th I believe, so maybe we still have some hope.”
Then, after much wondering about when results would be released, the results came out at 4:00 pm on December 20, 2017. But based on the comments, they all thought it would be at 5:30 pm EST.
This year the 20th is a Thursday. It was Wednesday last year. In 2016, they came out on Friday, December 16, apparently. So, it’s anyone’s guess.
If anyone calls in to ask, please let us all know what they say.
Last year they got the ED decisions on the 15th
I think the 15th for last year is correct for Early DECISION. Early action is the December 20.
12-15-2017 at 4:40 pm: descisions are out
^^^ What last year’s Early Decision thread says…
I called and spoke with admissions.
They said “the early decision results will be posted when available. It will be around the 20th, maybe a day earlier, maybe a day later.”
She said that they upload everything and run a few tests and if everything is working fine, the results are available.
She said that once a decision has been made, the portal will show “Your Status Has Been Changed” and there will be a link to click.
I am guessing that they do the upload closer to December 15, and knowing there could be glitches, they say “December 20.” But if there aren’t glitches, perhaps the results are available sooner, as they were the last two years.
That said, do NOT expect anything before December 20th. Just be pleasantly surprised if something comes out sooner.
Villanova received 1004 ED applicants which is much more than last year. They plan on accepting 425 students from this pool, with about 75 of them being athletes.
So if you pull out the 75 recruited athletes (I’m assuming they are recruited and will be accepted) you have 350 acceptances out of the remaining 929 applicants…or roughly 37.7%. Not bad.
Where did you find out they got 1004 ED applications and how many they are accepting?

Thanks. Hoping legacy plays a real role in ED
It should. She said that as well.
Villanova posted on their twitter and instagram today (the admissions office) that ED comes out Thursday Dec. 20th at 5pm.
My son has ED pending at Villanova, but the fact that legacies and athletes are included in the 400+ the school is admitting under ED is intimidating since my guy is neither.
