Does anyone know whether notifications go out by email, snail mail, or a website which can be consulted?

Was the snail mail letter fat or skinny last year for acceptances?

Was the snail mail letter fat or skinny last year for acceptances?

sunnyholiday – I wrote a response, but didn’t want to leave a spoiler on the site. pm’d you instead.

Snail was skinny initially, then it got fatter . . . ;-)

Last year they sent domestic ones by post and international ones by email. The Cali people got theirs first. Hope to see black, gold, and a formula…

10 DAYS!!!

Does anyone know if they come a few days before or if they send them out on the 15th?

Blackroses – being in-state, you might get your envelope a day early, but I wouldn’t count on it. They were precisely punctual last year. Good luck!

I’m betting there is an 80% chance of rejection right here. No deferral.

Terrible subject scores, everything else is not that great, and my parents indicated that financial issues weren’t all sorted out on the application. Plus, if I were to get a deferral, I’d probably be rejected because I’m probably getting a B in AP Calc and a B- in AP Bio. It’s okay though. I’m not that smart. I’d probably be better off at UCI/UCSD.

I don’t know what I was thinking. I’ve always been so naive. It’s all good though. What happens, happens. I’ll hopefully be happy no matter where I end up. =)

:(
Blackroses, I’m hoping a miracle for you because there was nobody more enthusiastic about the school than you were

and blackroses
have u looked at Rose-Hulman?
It’s easier to get into with a rather similar atmosphere
and since it is a tech school, females have an advantage there too

^ If I don’t get into HMC I’ll probably go to UC.
I don’t want to go to an out of state school unless it’s really good.
Also, even though my mom makes a lot of money (can’t get need-based aid), she may not pay anything, so I have to take that into consideration (basically if I don’t get near/full tuition at an out of state school/ private school I wouldn’t be able to go anyway).

It’s okay though, really. UCs are pretty good. I could always transfer too.
It would be great if I got into HMC but I doubt that will happen and even if it did I don’t know how I’d afford it considering my mom’s attitude toward college finances…

:(
I really feel bad.

^ Whatt??? Don’t! I’m sorry! Forget what I said. It’s totally off topic anyway haha.

But seriously. UCs aren’t bad. Whatever happens, I’ll hopefully be okay. = )

k. let’s talk optimistic stuff then

AT LEAST YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT COLLEGE APPS. YAY!

You’re done with college apps then, right?

haha I can be a dreamer but I am quite the pessimist at times.

kinda, my parents still want me to apply to like Cornell and a few hard out of state schools… I really don’t see the point since I wouldn’t be going there anyway? They’re weird… I’m actually going to ask them why they want me to do that now… haha

i guess they want some options to choose

Yeah, but how are they options if I wouldn’t be going there due to financial reasons anyway? My dad said he wanted me to apply to CMU so he could tell all his friends in the computer science department that I got in lolll (he was joking though).

This is so off topic haha.

haha
I’m probably going to CMU or Cornell if I don’t get in here.
I want to go to Olin and Caltech too, but if I fail Harvey Mudd, it’s unlikely.

I’m actually not applying to either. First, I have NO shot at those schools. haha. Second, Caltech seems like a school where they work too hard and aren’t too happy. At least at HMC the students seem happy. As for Olin- cold weather and expensive, even with the half-tuition.

I seriously doubt I’d go to Cornell or CMU even with the odd chance that I’d get in because of the distance and cost.

well. good luck with ur UCs then
UCI has AMAZING hip hop dance teams by the way. I like to dance so I’m fascinated by their dance teams. Basically a dance school for the hip hop dancers. A lot of them in UCI actually dance as professionals

^ My dad teaches at UCI. I’ve spent quite some time on that campus as a result haha. I also did some research there this summer and rented an on campus apartment with some sophomore girls. I don’t know too much about the dance teams, but I remember seeing some guys dressed up with foam swords playing in the central park… haha
