.....im soo ****ing happy right now.......see u next year bro

congrats chammon and sytry on the amherst acceptance

Congratulations...to both students and parents.

Congratulations! Our D was unfortunately deferred, so our response is not as happy. However, we are very happy for you! Best of luck.

Did your acceptance / deferral letters come via Fedex as discussed in earlier threads or USPS mail. I'm wondering since today is saturday and I'm guessing they would not have used more expensive saturday delivery from Fedex.
Thanks in advance

USPS priority mail.

Thanks all for the Congrats.

BJMB your D is such a strong candidate that you probably will hae good news in the spring. Don't give up hope!

Our deferral came in a regular envelope, quite thin :(

We don't have much hope for the srping, as Amherst rarely admits deferrals from early admission. My D is visibly upset, but is a pretty strong kid, and she will move on. Who knows why these things happen...I do believe that kids end up where they are meant to be. We'll just move on, and see what awaits us. Other colleges on the horizon:

Smith
Wellesley
Brown
Tufts

Best of luck to all who got in to Amherst ED! We're proud of your accomplishments!

Congrads:)

Did Dean Parker make a comment on the letter?

Congratulations to everyone accepted. And BJM8, one never knows what is in store for the spring. And yes, each child really does end up where they should be. We know it mentally, but it still hurts the parents more, I believe, than the child - we hurt twice, once for ourselves, then for our child, knowing we can't do anything about it, except to be there to support her. We went through the rejection EA, then acceptance at second choice school, but FA was not enough - talk about dejection! Other acceptances with great FA, but nothing thrilling to my D, and then surprise from Amherst - a school she applied to as an afterthought, without having visited. It was meant to be. The dejection is awful, and I wish we knew how to take away the hurt, but she will be at Amherst, if it is meant to be, or will go elsewhere, if that is where she truly should be. And though it is hard to believe right now, she will be happy, and this difficult time will just be a memory hardly worth remembering. Any of the schools you listed will be terrific for your D. God bless you both. Let us know what the final outcome is.

last year's Early Write for D had a personal short message from the Dean. I expect this is normal.

And you were worried, chammom. How did the othe ED applicants from son's school fare?????????

Evitajr1,mthank you for the kind words, and thank you even more so for taking a real interest in my daughter's application to Amherst. You and your daughter have been very helpful all along the way, and we appreciate all you tried to do for us. If it was meant to be, it would have been. There is no doubt that we as parents feel bad about situations like this, as we do not want our children to suffer setbacks. But this is life, and we must all experience setbacks in order to grow as individuals. My D will be stronger because of this, and will be applying to Smith, ED II. Again, thank you for all your help and kind words. I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and good health.

Anybody from west coast who heard yet?
My guess is
Aceptance Letter: USPS Priority, 2 days, should arrive by 12-10-2005 if postmarked by 12-8-2005
Deferral Letter: USPS First Class, 3 days, should arrive by 12-12-2005 if postmarked by 12-8-2005
Therefore, if you are from west coast and haven't heard yet, you are most likely deferred!
I hope this is not true and post office missed / delayed the delivery, but it sure doesn't look good right now.

evitajr1: I don't know yet about the other ED applicants to Amherst, but will get the low down on Monday when my son goes to school. I know of 3 EDers to other schools: 2 in at Columbia, 1 rejected by Dartmouth.

We are so thrilled with the Amherst acceptance, but a tiny part of me feels sad that he will not experience the other schools on his list, which were all great schools. I hope that other students and parents who may not have realized their dream school this round, take comfort in the fact that there so many amazing schools out there. Good kuck to all.

I was accepted yesterday!!!

Cre8tive,

Congratualtions to you

Congrats, early members of the class of 2010! :)
