My S will be a freshman this fall. He is from Florida and wants to open up checking/banking account now. Can someone give us advice on banking services? Is there a national bank that we could do banking here in Florida and in Hanover?

Bank of America.

Yeah, Ghaelon (sorry if I spelled it wrong.) I have to admit that I scored a 1600 SAT I as well as 3X800 on SAT II as well as having won quite a few writing awards. So I may have given you a misleading picture (I think of myself as a "good person"... but I know that isn't what got me into college.)

"I think that there's an article somewhere (thedartmouth.com maybe) about how the adcom (or maybe it was the Dean of Admissions, specifically) despised "the All-American" boy or girl."

Oh....****.

"I think the exact phase the article used when describing what the adcom is looking for was "creative loner.""

Isn't it crazy how all parents tell you that that's a bad thing (as mine did)?

Ahhhh....that makes much more sense. How'd you end up with a 3.6, then?

And I'm no slacker when it comes to intelligence, of course. It's just that, because of the area of our school, there's no department prizes for best _____ student, and there are no important colleges to go to nearby. I was merely hoping they'd take my semi-rural location into consideration, especially considering the relative prestige of what I've done here.

sigh

I like my town, but, oh, what could have been? waxes poetic

Thanks for the clarification, guys.
