Philly suburbs here. Huge Phila sports fan. You'll know its me when you see a dorm full of philly paraphanalia. I can't wait for a New York Giants fan to be my roommate with a Jeremy Shockey jersey. There will be a rumblin'

yeah another depressed hockey fan here. i just got a flyers jersey for xmas, so i'm officially a fan (if they ever play again.) the canes are still my favorite but i really hope i can get to some games in philly.

im a philly sports fan as well, but phillies are my team even though they have sucked for the past 10 years. citizens bank park is only 15 mins away from penn!!! i can't wait

i went to a phillies game on one of my visits and it was really easy to get to the park from campus. it's also convenient that all the stadiums are there in one place. 4 pro sports teams=good luck getting all my work done.

dukie01, I will personally take you to each sporting event and teach you the Philadelphia ways. Further learning will be conducted outside of the arena using mediums such as AM Radio (610 WIP), The Great Philadelphia Fan Debate Book, the WIP Pre-game tent. Although I can't promise being able to get Eagles tickets. The atmosphere at Flyers/Eagles games (particularly playoffs) will make the Hurricanes fans look like elderly folk at the sunday movies.

I have partial season tix to the Phillies - since a ton of people are ****ed at Phillies management (myself included), a ton of people aren't renewing their tickets for next year. I'm looking to get a solid upgrade this way.

P.S. - Get ready for wingbowl. No one outside of Philly probably can ever conceive that 21,000 people can fill the Wachovia center at 5:30 AM to watch a wing contest.

haha yeah my cousin was just telling me about the wing eating contest. sounds fun, but only because of the wing girls...

anyway, you'd be surprised how awesome it can get when the hurricanes fill the rbc center. the same cousin i talked to above (who's a sports columnist and a flyers fan) was surprised when he came down for a game that was midseason and only 3/4 full. the only problem is everyone's too stupid down here to take advantage of having an nhl team in the area, so the place rarely fills up in the regular season.

Houston, Texas. Bioeng/Finance(hopefully)

gbusche - i'm from malvern, i go to great valley...you? umm my committee is i believe Economic Advisory for Africa, or something like that. im not sure, we applied really late so we got stuck with something shi tty. did u get in ED?

Sunny San Diego here...aaagh...what am I going to do with weather that's not 70-80 degrees all year?
Proud member (hopefully) of the College, PPE
And while I have no idea how football even works, I am, and have always been, and always will be, a Yankees fanatic. Sigh...Jose Contreras...despite an inability to throw a fastball, a cocaine addiction and an upcoming forced retirement, he is still the most beautiful man in baseball. And all you Red Sox fans out there...you can't do it again. We'll just buy Damon.

can we officially change the nickname "philly" to "phila?" --thank you in advance, woot woooot

what??? ITS PHILLY!!!!!!!
P H I L L Y..............
you are clearly not in the city much if you would ever propose such a thing.

. . .joke. . .

see above

seriously many, how are we going to give up this beautiful so cal weather?!

omg i know! the few days of rain in la have been complete and utter torture and my 'rents keep telling tht its gonna be like this at penn alllll the time. on the upside, im buying tons of adorable winter clothes:O) and boots and my penn sweatshirt just came in the mail! so excitingggg

doesn't really rain all that often here... but I doubt it will be like LA, and yes it does get cold. I don't think I could take california though, too sunny, no snow, no cold? How can you take it

Except I heard from someone that Philadelphia (compared to the rest of the northeast) is always a little warmer (particularly compared to Boston, New Haven, etc). Is this true?
Oh good Lord my San Diego cold-weather wardrobe consists of (in its ENTIRETY): ONE sweater, ONE pair of thick socks.
What have I done????

Yea, Philly is usually 5-10 degrees warmer than Boston and a little warmer than NYC. However, don't come here thinking, "ah its very balmy there, much warmer than the rest of the NE" - you might be surprised. You'll come in in september and the humidity will be fun and then in a few months you'll experience some extremely cold weather.

if you like the yankees in philly, you better keep that to yourself. also, the weather is nice sometimes.. here on the east coast we have things called 'seasons' and they make things more interesting. also id say we get a few feet of snow every year, about. lots of people i know have minor seasonal depression, like its probably not legitimate but i know people are def in a worse mood around the winter, but then super happy in the spring. fall is pretty.

I can't wait to play in the snow for the first time in my life.

wht! uve never been in snow pandy!!!! u gotta go up to mtn high or big bear one weekend, i think i like snow more than sun so whenever my friends try to freak me out about the weather next yr, i just smile hehe
