ED acceptees, where do you wanna live?

I wanna live in John Jay, a single, one with a view of the quad.

Howsabouts you?

same here, John Jay...I'd consider myself pretty outgoing but I like the privacy..not sure if I want a view of the quad or the city...when i was on my overnight visit, i strolled through carman and the top floors have an amazing view of NYC

I went to the summer program and I will tell you, JJ sucks. Wallach 2A the biggest suite is where i want to be.

furnald is the best, as everyone here now realizes.

I think I'm going to go for Carman and pray for the best. I just really like the idea of my own bathroom.

one thing about carman to beware: no kitchen on the floor, must go down to basement for anything - even just to heat up stuff in the microwave

I would love to be in Furnald. I lived in Wallach and loved it during the summer program, but being in a double doesn't excite me all too much so Carman, Wallach and Hartley are last on my list.

john jay, single, high floor for a view of the city! or maybe just the frat houses haha... i like socializing, just not when i'm trying to sleep.

i just thought i should say. columbia university is awesome.

Is there a website or something where I can read about each of the halls or whatever?

Very few in wallach and hartley are doubles. I had a double all to myself at the summer program and it was awesome, but I know that won't happen for the real deal. Everyone I talked in JJ at the program hated it. I don't know about the others.

I want to live in John Jay!!!

what is so good about John Jay...and y does everyone want to have a single dorm???? EXPLAIN PLEASSEEE...

Well its like this. The rooms are singles (pretty small but so are the others in the other buildings I have been in). There are several that all take up a long hall. You have a room with TV and such for EACH floor which is about 30+ rooms. I don't know about the bathrooms. I didn't actually stay in JJ but I did have a friend up there that I hung out with.

I am just curious but out of the people who want JJ, how many have actually been there and seen the rooms of both JJ and other buildings?

First Year Housing Information.

Still unsure.

Soul, could you please tell us the real truth about Carman and its craziness? Is it exaggerated?

Carmen is amazing when I visited. People there were talking and chillen outside in the hallways at like 4 in the morning. Don't go if you're a loner.

carmen is amazing. i've seen and stayed at both carmen and john jay. if you stay at carmen, you automatically get a tight circle of friends of everyone on your floor, its very fun. however, i would prefer to LIVE somewhere where i can sleep when i need to sleep and study in my room if necessary. carmen is very tempting though.

JJ = privacy = do what you want

I plan to be social, though, and leave my door open to friends to just come in.

And of course, to have collegeconfidential buddies and make friends with classmates and floormates =p Though carman might be more famous as a social dorm, I think JJ could work too.

i agree tom (can i call you tom?)

lol sure, you can call me tom
