I’ve been trying to look this up but never found a definitive answer. Is it allowed for someone to apply Early Decision to a single school as well as apply Early Action to other schools that are non-binding or restrictive? So for example, could I ED one school and EA two schools that are non restrictive?
Depends on the school policies. No one can make a blanket statement.
Agree, you have to look at the website of each school. It is typically spelled out pretty clearly but if you have questions call admissions to clarify.
It is usually okay, but the rules do vary. For example. Penn seems to have changed their rules this year so you can’t do what you are talking about. Read the school websites.
Yes. You can ED to one school and EA at other non binding schools unless it’s Penn – which has restrictive ED (you may not EA at other private unis)
Rules vary. For many you can ED at one school and EA at others, but there are some EA colleges that prohibit you from applying ED elsewhere (e.g., Georgetown), some EA colleges that prohibit your from applying ED or EA elsewhere (e.g, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford), and at least one ED college, UPenn that prohibits you from applying both ED and EA elsewhere… In other words do not rely on any generalization, and check the specific rules of each college to which you would like to apply EA or ED
