So on my common app I am applying to Carleton ED, however, if I do not get in I want to apply ED II to macalester, and on the common app it gives the three options of ED II for macalester. My question is, can I still put EDII for macalester even though I have already put ED for Carleton. Here are the deadlines

Carleton ED: deadline November 15, decision by December 15
Macalester EDII: deadline january 3, decision february1 I think.

Put in the Carleton ED app and then wait until 12/15.
If you don’t get in, apply EDII to Macalester.

However, if Carleton defers you from ED I and Macalester accepts you ED II, you are forfeiting your potential 2nd chance of getting into Carleton. Are you ok with that?

ugh I hate college admissions. lol So I can send in the common app to carleton but not Macalester? I thought once you hit submit, it sends the apps to all the colleges on your my colleges list? Also I think I would probably not be ok with that lol, so now I must seriously think. Thanks for all your help btw.:)

I believe you can submit both applications at the same time, one to Carlton ED and one to Macalester ED11. In other words, you don’t need to wait until you hear from Carleton to submit the Macalester ED11 application. If you get accepted from Carleton, simply withdraw the Macalester application prior to the due date.

As soze mentioned, if you get deferred by Carleton into the RD round, and get accepted by Macalester ED11, you have eliminated a second chance at your first choice.
