ED and standardized tests (need application clarified)

I just got the UVa Prospectus booklet and I would like something on the application clarified:

"If you are applying under the Early Decision Plan, you must take the SAT or the ACT with writing no later than October 2006; while you need not take SAT subject tests by that date, you should plan to take them by January 2007. Have your scores sent to...(test codes)"

I've taken the SAT's and SATII's and my SAT was good but I want to retake the SATII's. I had planned on taking them in October to send on my application but according to this it seems like I could retake my SAT in October instead and still have a few months to take SATII's. I jsut want to be sure about this so I don't take sign up for the SAT in October and then realize that I should've gone with my original plan.

It actually seems pretty straightforward to me but I'm new to these and nervous about messing up my app so I just want to be sure.

Yes, if you want to retake the SAT in October and then retake SAT IIs later, it sounds like that is possible.

Given, however, that you're happy with your SAT score and not happy with the SAT IIs, I'd suggest retaking the IIs in October.

bump (10 char)

The only way to know for sure is to contact admissions and ask them. Any advice you get here is subject to error.

You are misconstruing the situation. UVa does not "require" SAT II's for admission and thus you need not submit them for early decision. However, SAT II's are highly recommended by UVa. UVa makes determinations as to early decision in December. If you apply for early decision and submit SAT scores, they will consider all scores they have on file for you when they make that decision in December, including the SAT II's you believe are weak. Those January SAT II's will not be considered for early decision although they may be considered for regular decision if you are deferred.

So if i took them in like, november, UVa would see them on my ED application?
