Hey everyone! Just curious about some things. I plan to apply to CMU next year for the design school. I was just curious why the ED acceptance rates are lower than the RD? Also, is Carnegie Mellon typically as generous as other top tier schools as far as scholarships go? Thanks for the time!

I assume its because the students who choose to ED are the ones that are applying to the more prestigious programs, like SCS, which have a drastically lower acceptance rate than the overall average.
If CMU released ED rates by school itd be cool…

One reason is because CMU only meets 100% of demonstrated need thru ED and CMU has limited funds not like some of the ivys and other privates so it must limit their acceptances.

Scholarships are not very good at CMU. Financial aid during RD is average at best.

Makes sense, thanks both <3
