Stats please.

alright well someone message me about making an official group if you want :p

ShesOnHerWay-

Not sure which stats you wanted, so here's a quick summary:

SAT- 2140 (740 math, 730 writing, 670 reading) [didn't officially submit]
ACT- 35 composite (36 math, 36 english, 35 science, 34 reading, 32 english/writing subscore) [officially submitted]

GPA- 3.8 UW

EC's: captain varsity basketball, captain varsity football, president of student council senior year, president of class junior year, NHS 2 years

I'm also a legacy, and I've taken 5 AP courses in HS (very small school, about 600 kids K-12, and we only offer 5)

I think that's the important parts of my application. If you want to know more let me know.

Recruited athlete?

nope

Anon...
was it suggested you not officially submit your SAT and SAT IIs? Similiar position in stats, but RD. Just wanted to know what you were advised to do vs what you decided to do.

The first time I took ACT and SAT I had almost identical scores (2140 and 32), but my only SAT IIs were from a couple years ago and were weaker (690 and 650), so I decided to submit only ACT. Upon retaking them, my SAT score decreased to 2040, while my ACT went up to 35. That was sent directly there, but I had already decided based on weaker SAT IIs.

Although my SAT scores were on my CommonApp, and my guidance councilor included them unknowingly, so they got both anyway, but I went with my ACT to avoid them seeing my SAT II scores (Haven't taken any SAT IIs since 10th grade).

The dean told me that my current schedule didn't put my in a good position to take more recent SAT IIs, so I might as well submit the ACT. And while she said my 32 was good enough, if I thought I could increase it I should.

hope that helps

Remember that Amherst superscores the ACT. So while my D2 had 2 ACT composites of 30, she superscores to a 32. She, too, did not even submit her SATs.

hugely. Thank you. The SAT & SAT II's were not my son's friends, and he completely bombed one II last year which despite other OK scores looks really lacking in comparison. Wish you could just say, take that sucker off. :)

I was under the impression they would look at all subtest scores but wouldn't combine them to make a new composite, i.e., superscore. My son had a slightly better math (by like 1 pt) the first time he took it, but much like his SATs he improved so much across the board the second time, there's really no need to submit both. In fact, even if he had gotten the one pt more in math it wouldn't have changed the new and higher composite.

my question really stems from an impression of not submitting enough standarized testing if you don't officially submit both ACTs and SATs. And if you listed your SAT scores on your application but do not officially submit, do they even look at them? Like I think Math II and English Lit were reasonable, but he completely bombed the Latin (like a 550 gulp) and he shouldn't have taken three in one sitting. Hindsight. So.. if no one had to see that... well, that would be best. :)
