Hey guys,

Anyone else’s counselors been receiving phone call(s) from Brown for your first quarter grades?

yes 10char

I did not hear about any phone call, but that could be because my counselor forgets to tell me many things. I assume the calls are for borderline students, do they call for everybody or just these special cases. I viewed my self as fo-sho or fo-maybe (borderline).

Yeah they called me.

They did ask for grades though- and I don’t want this to be conceited or anything, but do you think these grades are something to be looked at as good or bad?

AP Gov- 92
AP Stats- 91
AP Lit- 94

The rest were fine, so I do have all A’s, but do you think that they are afraid I am slipping in Gov and Stats?

@nate
I wouldn’t think so, some schools make AP Stats a VERY challenging class, and some schools not so much at all. So it’s not like they know.

My counselor told me that she was called for an ED brown applicant of her’s last year AND the year before…and that both applicants was accepted…

maybe a good sign?

anybody NOT get a call yet??

I haven’t got a call yet, I’ll email my counselor to ask about it. I think if they called and your grades were fine your in the green, but nothing is for-certain

I haven’t gotten a call. Hopefully some kids get in without a call :/

yeay hopefully cause i didnt get a call either. =((

@Panser, Bluecoast, and gmoraes-

If you look at about page 20 on the thread of last years ED Results, there were a few applicants who spoke about getting calls who were accepted and a few who said they did not receive calls but where also accepted, so really I wouldn’t think too much of it.

I highly doubt it is possible for them to call all 555 accepted applicants counselors.

well that is some good news. for once. I really hope I get in through ed, I don’t think I can go through this process again for regular decision to other schools

I asked my counselor to fax my quarterly grades over to Brown as soon as they were available. I know the lots of my friends college counselors at other schools do this. ED students are told to e-mail them the minute grades are given and to come in and sign a release allowing them to fax in grades immediately, if their grades are good and they want the college to see them. So, I would expect that a fair number of ED students had their grades sent in and did not need a call.

Yeah, but I do know that they are not a requirement to apply ED. I’m sure they are just using the grades as some means of further evaluation.

how do u know if you’ve gotten a call or not. DOes ur GC tell u?? I could’ve gotten one and just wasn’t told.

I’m going to ask my guidance counselor tomorrow.

what if my school gives out semester grades? could that be why they haven’t called yet?

I really wouldn’t look too much into it. If they wanted grades from everybody, they would make it a requirement to send them when you apply ED.

if they call for grades i think it means they are interested and want to know more. you may or not be accepted. if they don’t call, they are probably sure of either a yes or a no. i hope its a yes for everyone!
