ED Application Numbers

Early Decision applications decrease 1.5 percent - News

good news for you eders

Looks like Albert took my suggestion. :)

"Good news"

Not really, except that it could have been worse (ED apps up instead of down).

If you figure that they want around 1200 acceptances, then out of 4000 applications (last year's #) that would be exactly 30%. Out of this year's pool (3929 applications) its 30.54%, for a whopping 1/2% increase in your chances (assuming that they just don't adjust the admit rate down a little to compensate, which is also possible). So out of every 200 ED applicants, 140 would have been rejected last year and 139 rejected this year - big whoop.

wow i thought it was on the lines of 10%. i like my odds

The odds do differ by school - Wharton is much lower than 30% admit rate, more like 20%.

has anyone ever been able to find a breakdown of the number of apps and admits per school within Penn?

Penn is very stingy w/ this data because they don't like to advertise the fact that Wharton is twice as hard to get into as the College - it goes against "one university idea", p*sses people in the College off (every time I bring this up here I get all kinds of rude comments - some things are best not repeated in public) , etc. But unofficially, Wharton admit rate is around 9 or 10% overall, but b/c Wharton is a small school in relation to total undergrad enrollment, the RoP (rest of Penn) admit rate is not much higher than the overall average - maybe 18%-20% RoP vs. 16% for AoP (all of Penn). Something like that. I have no idea how that breaks down nursing vs. eng. vs. col.

sometimes i wish i had applied to the CAS

me too.....

Forget that Wharton roxx0rz

Anyways, hopefully the # of Wharton apps didn't go UP, I hope that everyone stayed the same across the board!

i don't hope they stayed the same, i hope wharton's went DOWN...by a lot =D

lol now that you said that I bet that wharton apps increased by 50% and everyone else went down by 20%

haha...i bet mrchipmunk wants there to be only like 250 applicants so we all have to get in! that would be nice...

haha if only....

hahaha yea watch that 3500 of the apps are for wharton alone

actually the majority are probably for the college as they are every year
