ED Applications for Wake Forest

How long does it take to hear from Wake regarding ED?

Iā€™ve seen many postings talking 4-8 weeks, so I donā€™t think a month plus is unusual.

My S applied on 9/30 with common app and everything was downloaded 10/1. We got the portal email and all items are showing green check marks. Does anything else happen (eg any confirmations) or do we just wait a few weeks for a letter?

Still waiting after more than four weeks. Wondering if I should contact the school. How long does it take for WF to respond?

A rep came to my school recently and told me that once the portal showed all green checks, then it was simply a waiting game.

So no review happens until all the boxes are checked? You even have to wait until after the interview before they start looking at you app?

Good luck future Deacs. S is a sophomore and LOVES it. Just spent a great family weekend there. It reminded me of what a great place Wake is! Go Deacs!!

My school submitted their materials on a September 17th, but I submitted my application July 11th. Been a long time waiting and I am getting more and more nervous! Itā€™s hard knowing it could be any day now or a month more to wait.

I finished my application on Sept 12th, and contacted the admissions office to see how long it would take for a decision. They said 6-8 weeks, yikes. Anyone know if this is a realistic measure? Iā€™m really hoping more in the ballpark of 4-6. Lots of anxiety over here.

It took 5 weeks for my D last yr. that was from the time they received everything. Good luck! She loves it there!

The interview isnā€™t mandatory. Neither is the test, so I would assume unless you indicate that you will send, they wonā€™t need to wait for it. But, other than those, yes, I believe they donā€™t look at anything until they have all required info. That is consistent with every school I have looked at, however.

Over 6 weeks now and no love back from WF, not a peep, not a word. I showed ample love, but now feel like it is time to move on and seek love elsewhere. Spending this weekend polishing the common app and applying to other great schools.

Hi, Wake Forest mom here. Son is a freshman (Class of 22) and was accepted ED last fall. We learned a lot in the admissions journey so if I can share anything that would help, I am glad to. (He loves it, by the way!) A few answers from questions asked aboveā€¦ SAT 1370, GPA 3.8 / 4.0 unweighted. No AP offered at his private school but he did have all honors classes (15 total, I think.) Visited campus & interviewed October, Applied Nov 15th, Accepted mid-December. We do know students that waited 8-10 weeks after applying ED and were still accepted, however - but he heard back pretty quickly. All decisions are mailed by snail mail, unless you are in another country. Acceptances come in an 8 x 10 brownish gold envelope with the artsy sketches of peopleā€™s faces (same cover as the guidebook you got when you toured.) Rejections and deferrals arrive in regular envelope. He applied using the Common Appl with the Wake Forest supplement. Once he got the confirmation that they had received everything, he didnā€™t hear after that - until he received his acceptance.

Also, I have never seen stats released profiling the Class of 2022 (in terms of number of applications, how many were accepted ED vs RD, etc.) But several top colleges announced last spring that they would no longer release that information so it may be that Wake has chosen to no longer release as many specific details. When my son was applying last fall, I do remember reading stats for the Class of 2021 and when I calculated the numbers, ED applicants had a 36-38% acceptance rate while RD was only 24%. (Overall acceptance rate is 29%.) So ED definitely boosts your chances. Here is one stat I did pull from the current WFU Early Decision Page." ā€¦Approximately 10 to 15 percent of applicants apply Early Decision each year; those students made up about 50% of the incoming class in Fall 2017." (WFU Class of 2021). Wake had approx 13,000 applicants for Class of 2021.

Anyone have any recent metrics on time to decision since high schools are back in session? With admissions staff traveling in October Iā€™m assuming the turnaround time will be longer.

Received my acceptance letter today. Applied 9/11, so I got it within 4 weeks.

My only other option was UNC. Although the price tag is better than wake, the teaching quality and class size is better at Wake Forest. Most importantly, I can stand out as a business major at wake in terms of networking and career events because at UNC Iā€™ll be competing against thousands of students while at wake, the competition is between a few hundred qualified students. All in all, I am satisfied that I am going to wake.

I was born and raised in Winston for the past 17 years, so ask away if anyone has any questions specific for wake or the city.

Interview: okay. I think I did decent.

Few tips:
-make sure to put all of your excellent ap scores on your application
-make sure to report your sat score
-explain in depth and write well about your extracurricular in god activities section
-write wonderful essays reflecting upon your extracurriculars or some life changing moment

Aside from this, I think you have a wonderful chance of being admitted. I would strong encourage you to do ED, because you would be accepted under ED (35%), but RD might make Wake Forest a reach school because of its (27%) lower acceptance rate. Acceptance rates are only going to go down, so now better than never.

Would love to meet you if you end up going to wake forest.

I sent in my ED application via common app on Saturday, 10/13, and my guidance counselor sent my transcript today, 1015. The Wake portal says theyā€™ve received everything but my school report and transcript have been received, but my counselor submitted my school report with everything else in the common app. The portal page does say that I should look at the common app and that the portal is just for those who used the Wake Forest application, but Iā€™m just a stressful guy. Should I call the admissions office and ask if they have everything or does that annoy them? Assuming they have everything as of today, any idea of when Iā€™ll hear back? Iā€™m in NY, btw

tl;dr : If wake received all my info on 10/15, about when should i be getting a letter of admission or rejection?
