There’s always a chance, but now you’re in a bucket with about 11,000 RD applicants and they accept about 2,800 of those (from 2017-18 common data set). I do know someone who was deferred and then waitlisted and then got in (2 years ago when they actually took people off the waitlist- last year they took none). Wake doesn’t publish that kind of info (number of deferrals that are eventually accepted). Keep in touch with your AO- send grades, updates etc. Either way, there are so many great colleges out there you’ll end up somewhere great!
applied on 11/11- Just got my acceptance! #wfu2023
Did it come in the regular mail? We have not checked our mail this week. My son applied on 11/14 and I assumed that it would take 6-8 weeks for a decision.
@LPGrun All notifications come through the postal service unless you are an international applicant. (Last year, my son applied on Nov 15th (deadline day) and heard Dec 7th… only 3 weeks. We had anticipated 4-6 weeks also… and that does seem to be the norm…)
does your portal change when the letter is sent? i applied 11/5 and haven’t heard back
The portal doesn’t change at all, you just get the notice in the mail.
I applied on 11/9 and heard back 12/10 deferral
For anyone who got accepted can you please say your ACT/SAT and GPA? I am thinking about applying ED II
Based on these stats, what do ya’ll think are my chances of getting in ED II?
GPA: 4.07 (my school does only weighted)
ACT: 29
APs: 8 in total
Honors classes: 7 in total
Activities: Debate, NHS, volunteer attorney, volleyball coach, lots of services, editor of school newspaper,
For those who got accepted can you please share your IB exam scores? I’ve only taken a couple AP’s and am still deciding on testing. Primarily doing IB exams.
I don’t know why I receive a wait letter from WFU. I am not either deferred or rejected. So weird. Anyone has the same problem???
Wake Forest doesn’t wait-list during the ED cycles. If you did receive a wait-list letter I would contact the Admissions Office immediately.
I did. But it seems that they have started their winter break. I have to prepare for other universities now and wait for WFU’s reply.
How do I enroll in the class of 2023 w my Wake Forest ID number?
Congrats on everyone’s acceptances and good luck to those who are going to a different school! I just applied ED II
Is the application fee for Wake Forest due on the same deadline as the Early Decision II deadline? I submitted the application on Coalition which didn’t have an application fee, but on the Wake Forest portal, it says I still need to pay the application fee.
Yes, to have a “completed” application, you would have needed to pay the application fee by the ED II deadline. There may be some leeway with that aspect however, so I would call or email the Admissions Office and explain the confusion when you completed your Coalition App.
@WakeDad my D applied early decision in June. She was deferred. She has a 4.4 all straight A’s and A pluses this first semester of senior year. Over 350 community service hours through of end Junior Year, 6 AP classes, numerous leadership posts a poetry awards, varsity sport all four years. Does Wake actually take applicants off deferred list and accept them RD?
@WakeDad Sorry, meant to say she was deferred in late July.
@WakeDad The problem is, the admissions office will be closed until January 1st, which is the deadline for the ED2 application. Should I still email regardless, or should I wait until January 1st?
