If I applied Early Decision to Cornell, how could I argue the package if I deemed it lacking? Can applicants only turn down the package if their EFC is wacky, not if the loans are outrageous? I know that my EFC (through FAFSA) will be very low; would Cornell screw me with a bad package? Thanks.

Cornell has 100% of demonstrated need met so i think your package shouldn't be disastrous.

Yea, and think about it, if they can't meet your need, that lowers their yield, freshman retention rate, student satisfaction, etc. It's to their advantage to give you enough. If for some reason the FAFSA algorithms result in a freakishly low amount of aid, you can always petition for an adjustment. Nobody on this board, even ED people, has complained about getting screwed by FA. Now, as though on cue, someone will probably pop up with a story about how he was screwed ;) haha...

We asked for an adjustment and the financial aid people were really helpful. They ended up making out EFC even lower than what we requested.
