ED at Elon

I have heard that ED very significantly improves your chances of acceptance at Elon (>80%). Is that in fact true? I would assume ED does give you some boost, but 80% acceptance?

Yes, it is true. Elon has an unusually high acceptance rate for ED applicants. If you look up their common data set, you will see it has been around 82%or so the past few years. I don’t know what it was for the last admission cycle, but look through older threads and you should find it.

Important to note about ED at Elon: Elon is not a Common App school. Unlike many other colleges, their ED agreement makes no mention of the binding agreement being subject to acceptable financial aid. If you apply ED to Elon, you agree to attend there - finances are not a reason to back out. Of course they can’t force you to go there, but it is important to understand that Elon is not able to meet 100% of need for all students. While I’m sure they are able to meet need for most ED students, I’d suggest using their net price calculator ([Financial Aid Calculator](<a href=“Elon University / Undergraduate Admissions / Tuition & Aid”>Elon University / Undergraduate Admissions / Tuition & Aid) ) to get an estimate of aid you would probably receive - understanding that this is NOT a guarantee of aid you will receive, merely an estimate.

What should i do If i NEED financial aid but elon is my first choice?

Use Elons net price calculator to get an estimated FA award. Apply EA, not ED. Make sure your regional rep knows who you are and that Elon is your first choice. Good luck!
