ED Brown Chances

Hey all!
Rising Senior:

SAT Reasoning- 770W , 750 CR, 720M, 2240Overall. I have only taken it once so i am retaking in october for MATH, should get 800ish math.. idk how i screwed up

GPA: 3.95 UW: 4.4 W

AP Scores: 5 Calc AB, 5 Chemistry, 5 English, 4 Comp Sci, 4 Biology

Senior year load: 2 online stanford classes in advanced computer science/ biology. 3 AP classes + Chinese Honors

Ethnicity: White
Upper Middle Class
Competitive High School

Major Extra Curriculars:
---I Spent two summers working in a lab in Computational Biology. I created my own evolutionary simulator and am in the midst of publishing my research. Also going to present my research at a conference in the late fall/ early winter
--I am the CTO for a foundation I helped create ( Not gonna say name for privacy sake). We help sick children in the hospital without families, I created a video of what my foundation does and Won $40,000/ am now Sponsored by the United Nations
-- I am head of a company and we make Iphone apps / won several contests and make severall thousand dollars
--I have won a bunch of random Robotics awards
-- USACO ( usa computing olympiad) I just am a silver level competitor.. no major awards
I do a bunch of other random stuff too, but it's not the main stuff.

I really want to go to BROWN because I want to study computational Biology and they have the best program for that. I also want to study linguistics. I am thinking of EDing there, but what do you guys think my chances are? Should i wait to see how i do in the october SAT and just apply regular to wait for the 800 Math ( I can take a third time in november)

I'm also interested in Uchicago, MIT, Cornell, and UCLA

I'll chance back, thanks.

You can still apply ED if you take the SAT in October, and I think a 2240 isn’t terrible enough to hurt your chances. Strong, focused ECs that match you’re intended major makes you a strong candidate, especially ED. I think you have a great chance.

Also, my Subject Test scores were:

780 Chemistry
780 Math 2

You have a very strong chance, even without retaking the SAT. Good luck!

Chance back?

Wow your SAT is terrific! Of course you have a chance! Obviously it will be a reach for anyone, that school is simply ridiculous that way. But I think you have a really good chance, I’d bet on you!

If I were an admissions officer I would admit you

What do you guys think about my other top choices? IE U CHicago, MIT Cornell, UCLA… Also thinking of Yale or Harvard… If I rose my SAT would I have a shot at some of those ultra-top tiers?

Thanks.

bump 10char

You have some LEGIT EC’s and your scores are decent as is. HAHA I think you’re better off than I am. Brown is a low reach/match for you and I’d be baffled if you didn’t get in ED. Go for it!

Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1536047-chances-harvard-stanford-columbia-other-top-universities-2.html

I think you have a good chance because you’ve already shown interest and experience with computational bio. Your numbers are great as well, and the business/entrepreneurship things really stand out. You’ll be competitive for RD, but if you REALLY want to go there, definitely do ED because Brown’s so hard to get into. October SATs aren’t late for ED either. Good luck! Maybe you’ll meet Emma Watson! (notice my username lol) and thanks for chancing me!

ED to Brown and I think you’re in.

bump thanks all for the support, but what do you guys think about the other schools on my list.

ED Brown: match

ED Brown is not a “match” for ANYBODY.
(I personally know several 4.0/2400 applicants who were flat-out rejected).
I think it’s a reach for this candidate, but then it’s a reach for anybody and if Brown is his first choice he certaily would not be waisting his ED with an application.

You have good stats, but there are more factors than that. Write a brilliant essay and get great recs. possibly do an interview.

Browns a match if you bring your sat to 2300+ then colleges like Harvard and Yale might be possible! You’re resume is awesome, wherever you go you’ll do great :)

I think you have a above-average chance, with your GPA and test scores. I agree that retaking your SAT might help to boost your stats. You have good EC’s and I think you are a student who has a quality that Brown likes. I am also interested in applying Brown ED, so let us hope that both of us will get in. But as everyone knows, Brown is pretty much a reach for everyone…

Uchicago, MIT, Cornell - Reach, maybe Cornell is a low reach
UCLA - high match

Good luck!

bump. Thanks for the commenting guys

bump 10 char

I think you’ll get in…you’re definitely a competitive applicant. As for the other schools you mentioned, I’d say UCLA is a safety, Cornell is a match, UChicago is a high match, and MIT is a reach.
