hi @YoungOne4 , I am a parent. My D applied RD to Boston University. I am sure a student or applicant will respond to explain, but my understanding is in the portal itself is where the language changes from "Our records indicate " to Thank you for applying ". This happened 2-3 weeks after my D applied. Hers changed the first week of December. She applied mid to late November. That’s been our experience.
@Winky1 Thanks!
@YoungOne4 for me personally mine changed pretty early, like three weeks after I applied, but for others that applied ED theirs changed later on like two weeks before decisions came out. Don’t stress if it doesn’t change right away!
^^ Good luck and I hope to see you there
@sunflowerlover. Thank you!
My son applied RD back in late November. His Applicant Status says “Thank you for your application to the College of Arts & Sciences for the September 2018 semester.”
I have no idea what it said when he first applied or if there has been any change since he applied.
S applied late dec and his status does not indicate much of anything at all, it says -
“Welcome to the ApplicantLink! We recommend you check back frequently to confirm that all application materials have been received. You will also be able to view your admission decision here when decisions are released.”
Go 1 page further @genuine77 . When you see Application Status on the page on the right, underneath that you can click Admissions Status or Financial Aid Status. Click Admissions Status. See what the first sentence is.
@Winky1 thank you for pointing that out, it was a grey button that didn’t look clickable. His mid term grades also show as missing.
My son’s midterm grades won’t be available for a couple more weeks. It’s ok. Just send them as soon as they are available.
I’m applying ED II to BU. I would have applied to ED I but my teachers and counselor couldn’t get their recommendations done after months of asking. I have talked to the admissions officer for my region NUMEROUS times because I wanted to make sure that my name was familiar to her. I also have a bit of a different situation. My stats aren’t super high because of health problems in high school. My weighted GPA is a 3.95 and unweighted 3.55. My ACT score did not come out good. However, I have been involved in multiple activities that I have dedicated myself to, including working with the Ronald McDonald House for Children and the pediatric cancer center in my city for over two years. I took college classes at my local community college and got all A’s. The reason why I have continued my plan to apply to BU, my dream school, is because I attended one of their big summer programs and received amazing recommendations from their own professors telling BU that they’d be lucky to have me. I introduced myself to the admissions officers I met when I was there as well as befriended numerous BU students. I’m not getting my hopes up but I’m taking a chance. I have acceptances already from other great schools so if I’m not accepted, I totally understand why. My application is not the traditional HS student, it is somewhat of a wildcard especially because I attend an online high school within my public school district. I don’t think it is likely that I will get accepted but I’ve had friends with a 3.4 get into Harvard, so anything is possible.
I applied ED II to BU with average grades and an average SAT score as well. The whole “thank you” thing is really scaring me honestly. I just hope I get accepted. Anybody else with me? Honestly, I am really not anticipating anything because I heard the average BU SAT score is over 1400. So… how are you guys doing?
I hate the Thank You thing @flooffloof001 . My D is an RD applicant. You’ve done what you can with your application, especially applying EDII. Best of luck.
@flooffloof001 I submitted a 28 ACT and was accepted
@flooffloof001 I’m also an EDII applicant! My SAT was a 1380 and my GPA was nothing special (3.74 weighted). I have the “thank you” message, whatever that means, but I wouldn’t worry about it! I think they go through the applications individually and make the updates; yours still may change.
@meg2022 When did you submit your application, and are your mid-term grades in?
@YoungOne4 my application was initially submitted in mid November, but it was changed to EDII on 12/18. I have not yet submitted my senior year grades, but my portal no longer indicates that mid year grades are a requirement for my application to be reviewed. It now just says, “Please note that all students are expected to submit senior year grades. If you have not already done so, please arrange for your counselor to send them as soon as they are available.” Mine won’t be available until the first week of February, so I don’t know how much BU actually cares about these grades; they probably just check to see that you’re at least maintaining Cs before admitting you.
@meg2022. Interesting. Thank you. BTW, does BU send out EDII results before RD?
@YoungOne4 Yeah, we’re supposed to hear back by Feb 15, whereas RD is typically late March
Good luck, @meg2022
