ED Chance

Hello all. Cornell CALS has been my number one choice by far for a while now, and I'm really worried about getting in. According to Naviance, I should be able to get in, but I would like some human feedback.

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 640 CR, 740 M, 730 W. 2110 Total. First time and best score (everything dropped the 2nd time because I was sick..).
[] ACT: Took in Sept. Waiting on it
[] SAT II: 800 Math II, 700 Physics, 700 Biology, 730 Math I (doesn't really count since I took math 2)
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.78. Freshman - 3.2, Sophomore - 4.09, Junior - 4.04. Yeah my freshman year sucked lol. School gives 4.3 for A+s, but no weighted grades.
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): not ranked
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): English composition (4).
[] Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc AB, AP Lit, AP Macro, AP Bio, AP Gov, AP Stat
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Maxima Cum Laude, Cum Laude, and some school awards
[/ul]

Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars:
-Volunteer at a senior residence center for Alzheimer patients for 3 years
-Varsity Tennis, Captain of JV 10th grade, Manager of Girls Varsity Tennis,
-6 years of Piano. Play piano for senior residence as part of my community service
-Sports editor and writer for school newspaper
-National Honors Society, Service Leader
-Some unimportant clubs I probably wont mention, such as Key Club (just a volunteer)
[] Job/Work Experience: none..
[] Summer Activities:
-CTY: Mathematical Modeling, Introduction to Logic
-5 week internship at Harvard Medical School doing research
-Cornell Summer College (A-)
-Doctor shadowing
[] Essays: Had it reviewed for a few people. Should be solid
[] Teacher Recommendation: One teacher I've had for 4 years, the other is a CALS alumnus
[] Counselor Rec: Good
[/ul]

Other[ul]
[] Intended major?: Biological Engineering
[] State (if domestic applicant): NY
[] School Type: Public. Pretty competitive
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket: 100,000
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): none[/li][/ul]

Thanks!

Oh and I’m almost done with my supplement. If anyone could review it for me, that’d be great  (no applicants from this year though)

If you’re applying ED to CALS and you’re in-state I’d say you have a great shot.

Do you have any idea what percentile your rank is? That would help alot… Also, your scores are just average for being an ORM. I would say it is definitely a reach as there’s really nothing to special about your app. Also, only 1 AP class from up to senior year is a very weak courseload

^Nope, but I’m hoping Cornell will look at my GPA holistically because of the huge improvement after freshman year. I know, my CR score reading is killing me. But English is not my first language so hopefully they’ll be lenient towards that.

wow solid ecs! I think that you could get in if you apply early

thanks! bump

omg…
dont tell me you went to the cornell summer college this year… and got into the business world program…

nah I was in Body, Mind, and Health

bump. a few more thoughts would be nice

You’re applying to be an engineer, so your CR score isn’t going to be as important.

UPDATE: 33 on ACT

I think you have a solid chance! Those biology related ECs will definitely help you : ) Also, IMO these freshmen grades wont count as much since you showed great improvement sophomore and junior year.

Chance me back? : )

final bump?
