obviously, haven't gotten any awards for 11th grade yet (if i get any).

i know it's not complete, but what do you think my chances are? good? :)

thanks for your time!

wow, that made me look like such a dork. I'm really not. honestly. I listen to punk music, play ultimate frisbee, and am a vegetarian and an atheist...hmm, I think I'm a hippy. :-P

Barring a drastic decline come senior year, I'd say your chances are extremely good for ED to CAS (ED tends to be relatively high).

ditto
or if you get deferred, you'd be in RD for sure if you kept this kind of trend up
but you wouldn't get deferred

honestly, i would think about applying early somewhere where you'd need it more
EA/ED is an asset (as long as it's nonbinding), and it's one that should be used carefully
are there any other schools in which you're interested? maybe schools that would be more difficult to get in to (CU's 16th for US news' 06 selectivity ranking, so there are 15 schools that would be harder to get in to, maybe you can check them out and see if any pique your interest)

I'd say you're pretty safe, especially if you go ED. Even if you don't, I don't see why you should have much problem in RD.

match-safe for ED...i would say, of course with a decent essay.

cornell is really my top choice right now. i've visited twice and love the campus, atmosphere, etc. I also like it because they have a good womens' ultimate team and I know two people on the team/have played with them.

what other schools would you recommend looking at?
i won the elmira college key award (forgot to include that) which is a $28k scholarship to elmira college, not that I'm considering going there at all :-P

and sorry, what's "match-safe" mean?

i absolutely wouldn't say match...what are you talking about? This is an ivy league school and many kids with those scores are deferrred or rejected..people on this board are moronic.. I think you have a solid chance ED...much slimmer if you go RD

thanks

oh yeah, and at time of application I will probably have between 300 and 400 hours of community service, if that is relevant.

moronic? thanks sports

compared to the rest of the class that i've seen accepted and rejected this year, i think her chances RD are match, i don't care if you find that moronic or don't
yes it's an ivy league school, but its acceptance rate is 24 percent this year

with the 6 APs and straight As, coupled with community service and girl scouts, i think your chances are quite good for RD
sports, on what do you base your assertion? what does she lack?

24% acceptance rate implies that a lower percentage were accepted this year than last which should translate to even better scores. I am a senior at Cornell and I can tell you that people with her scores are rejected all of the time....you are clueless

are these people with my scores and community service/leadership, etc?

haha thanks sports
i'm glad you're going to graduate before i start attending (assuming you pass your classes)

i never said scores are everything, but she has the e/cs to back it up IMO (and the grades, at a competative school with which the adcom will be familiar, since she's from NY state)
i ask again, what do you think she lacks?

A) your very misinformed - NYS resident status does not even give state students an advantage when applying to the statutory colleges at Cornell (they do not have a quota anymore). That is irrelevant anyway because she is applying to CAS, which is arguably the hardest school at Cornell to get into.

B). Its not that she is lacking anything, its that she may not be bringing anymore to the table than any other applicant. If she really wants to improve her chances, ED is essential. If you look at who was accepted and deferred/rejected this year..you can see many students of her caliber were either rejected or deferred - especially from CAS.

see you in a year!

oh, and forget calc BC,, AB is all you need.. really

i don't think he/she was referring to a quota, i think he/she meant that they have had other applicants from my school and know their caliber and the quality of my school.

lol, itsallhappening, if i didn't take BC my dad would flip. he's a mathemetician...too bad I didn't really get any of his math talent.

I think you have a great shot..don't mean to let it get to your head..just reccomending an ED application cuz ive seen students get hurt

I'd say you're very close to being a lock, assuming your essays and other subjective stuff are good as well.
