I took all the APs my schedule and counselor allowed this yr. Hopefully, I can pull the 2 APs im takin now up to A's but I'm being conservative in my assesment here. Once again, my counselor will check "most rigorous" because it is for my school.

Essays and "Why Duke" should be good. Call it B+ to be safe. Have gotten advice from many on here and think they ended up ok.

Teacher-Recs: Should be amazing. Both my teachers were thrilled and flattered at the opportunity to write them for me.

Counselor Rec: Should be ok. Im one of the few students she knows, being at a large public school. Seems really excited about me applying to Duke.

Once again, I know that these arent really that accurate but I would still like others advice about how good/bad my chances are. And i did post a duplicate in the "What are my Chances" thread to get an idea about other schools I'm applying but this is the only school forum i posted it in, because Duke is my overwhelming #1. Thanks

A lot of your stats are VERY similar to mine.... I am also applying ED from NC. We have the same weighted GPA, but I have had a couple more B's (2 honors, 1 AP) so your unweighted is definitely better. As far as test scores, my ACTs aren't in, so I can't compare those.

I know this isn't actually your chances, but I think it contributes since we are very similar and in-state, just for comparison sake and what not, since us in-staters are essentially competing with each other.

Are you doing Pratt or Trinity?

Anyways, best of luck December 15th!

I'm applying to Trinity. Since I noticed that you are applying to Pratt, we aren't really competing I guess. Good luck to you too! Any other opinions?

Well, seeing as we are quite similar, I like to think that you have a good shot, haha. The thing is, it is pretty hard to accurately chance people for Duke (at least given people I know who have been accepted or rejected) when they are simply "great" applicants, as Duke receives so many. I know several students who I'd say were pretty comparable to my level who did not get in, but also many who did. Given ED, I think you have pretty good chances, so long as your essays are good (great). Hopefully ED will push us both over the top!

Oh, and I guess that's good that we aren't directly competing, given our very similar credentials, haha. Best of luck!

Captain- check
President- check
GPA- check

I'd say you're probably in. It's more important that you take the hardest courses available than the number of AP's you take, so you're set to go. I wish you were applying to Pratt... it makes me sad to think of my competition. But good luck anyways! (and make sure your essays are perfect)

Any other opinions?..gettin excited about applying...only 2 months b4 i get my decision...so what do you think? -- in, out, reach?

I like your chances...especially given the fact that you're in-state.

Hi schoolsearching!

You asked me to chance you in return. Your stats looks very impressive! Your EC's are especially strong. The leadership positions are definitely a plus. It seems like you have a very rigorous course load and very good grades too. Your UW GPA is very high. I'd say you have a pretty good chance for ED. You application will mostly likely stand out. Hmm...wow, seems like there's a lot of competition for me since I'm also applying to Trinity :)

hey!
you asked me to counter-chance...from what i have heard about duke, north carolina residency gets you a huge push into admissions, which seems somewhat ironic. solid scores, solid grades. your ECs are impressive, with the huge involvement in baseball showing an intense level of commitment.

i honestly think you have a good chance. i mean, i think this whole "chance me" thing is kind of funny, since we really cannot get into the minds of the admissions staff. duke can be kind of unpredictable in its selections, but your stats are solid. good luck! hopefully we'll both get in ;)

You are in, imo
