-school does NOT rank

i forgot somethin maybe so i might update this, but definitely ive been super interested in brown and they sure as heck know it (via several tours, info sessions, rep visits, emails etc) and my counselor knows it (via several meetings)

pretty much an average student, maybe a few more Bs than normal and low end of SATs for a CT applicant.

essay will be critical.

i dont know about plme.

im submittin my act score which im retaking, and dont they look at your stronger scores?

yeh i have a few b's, but as you can see in math/sciences i have a's/a-'s, and thats the kind of stuff i'll focus in on during college since im pursuing medicine. i guess if i were to be a foreign language major itd hurt me, but im not. im probably gonna be doin biology or somethin

From an objective perspective, your chances into Brown PLME are slim, unless there's something amazing that you're not mentioning. As an ORM with average stats and medicine-related activities, it's not looking good. Of course, I'm only a hs student :)

Chances appear low: by Brown (or any IVY) standards relatively low SAT scores, non-underrepresented minority group, applying from disfavored (i.e. overrepresented) geographic region, and guessing (due to private school status) not economically disadvantaged

However in the real (non-IVY) world, otherwise an outstanding record - where you could well end up down the road in a top level grad or medical school

why is everyone lookin at my SAT scores?!

its ACT im submitting and its ACT im retaking!!

everyone, forget my sat scores
theyre considered but they look at yur better test

I agree, don't send in your SAT scores.

For a regular Brown applicant, I think you have a great shot with a 32. According to collegeboard, a 32 is in the 75th %ile for accepted applicants.

However, for PLME, your ACT score is a tad low. Try raising it atleast 1 more point and I think you have a chance (but of course, PLME acceptance is 4% for those who apply so it's all a matter of chance). But your course that you took at Brown will definitely help. I think chances of you getting to PLME (granted taht you get about a 33 on the ACT this time), is about maybe 20-25% (which is pretty good for their standards). Good luck!

Otherwise, you are a very strong applicant for Brown.

stats arent bad, and good thing u took the course in brown... btw, wut country u from? pakistan? bangladesh? india?

for the record, taking a course means jack squat. it doesn't matter if you take the course or not at the university. what if you had the interest but didn't have the 8k to pay for the summer course? it definitely won't boost your chances, considering your low stats.

btw i took a course at harvard and was flat out rejected. that goes to show ya that it doesn't do anything. (btw i was accepted to every other ivy..kinda forgot to mention that in the other thread)

Hey everybody. Just wanted to give an update. Last time I commented here it was 2006. Now its 2011. Everyone was kind of saying I had no shot so I wanted to tell you how I’m doing. I got into Combined Program in Medicine at UConn in 2007. I needed to maintain a 3.5 and get a 28 or above on the MCAT. I got EXACTLY both of those. So now I’m in my first month of medical school at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. I am having a great time. It was fun being in a program where I didn’t have to worry that much about scores and grades. I hit the books then had a lot of fun as a UConn Husky.

So everyone who said I had no shot, I guess I’m living proof that this whole thing is a crap shoot. This is probably gonna be the last time I’m gonna be on this thread because, you know, I’m in medical school now. But if anyone ever needs any advice and not want to hear about their dreams going in flames, feel free to message to me. If I am around, I will try to answer you. Good luck and god bless.

Ummm, this is the Brown forum. You didn’t get into Brown PLME. From the looks of it, what other people said (you won’t get into Brown PLME) was true… Just saying. But Congrats on med school!
