is it even worth applying to Johns Hopkins for ED if i onlly have really high SAT 1/2 scores, almost perfect GPA, good teacher recs, good personal essay, but mediocre EC?
my EC really sucks
all i have is tennis 3 years, community service, key club, no leadership roles
but is it worth trying though?

are you an accomplished tennis player?? captain? this could help. Playing a sport, nonetheless, is a solid EC.

sometimes, a great deal of involvement and commitment in one of those activities compensates for a lack of them. but if you're one who studies, and sits on your ass and plays video games for the rest of the time...it doesn't help very much.
a friend of mine was like that and only got into state schools where not as much weight is placed on ECs.
it's not too late though if you have an explanation. try emailing your regional representative and asking them what they think can be done. it also shows that you're very interested in attending hopkins, they like that a lot!

who do you mean by regional representatives?

make your essay sing for you, and yes, you gotta good shot

thanks blue for answering
so i ll try my best on my essays to somehow reflect myself in a good way

Essays and grades are most important for admission.

personal essays or teacher recs?
by the way how many teacher recs does johns hopkins require?

ok cjsathos, let me try to answer your questions:

(1) regional representatives are the adcoms at Hopkins -- they each have a specific territory they recruit in and read apps from. you can see the list here: http://apply.jhu.edu/contact/staff.html . It is always good if you have questions to send them an e-mail, but don't stalk them -- they don't like that.

(2) essays -- they are important, do well on them. Your transcript is most important, then resume, then essays.

(3) recommendations - to apply you are required to submit two, one from a counselor and one teacher. you can send more if you want but not too many. i'd say 4 or 5 is the max.

good luck

how important are SAT 1 and 2 scores?
are they more important than essay and resume?

and what do you mean by "don't stalk" the regional reps?
i dont get it

so do you think it will be helpful if i ask the reps about admission requirements and other related stuff?

The adcoms say this is the order of importance: (1) transcript review, (2) resume, (3) essays, (4) test scores, (5) recommendations, (6) everything else.

What I meant by "don't stalk" is that it is fine to e-mail your admissions rep a few times with questions, but don't e-mail and call every day or even once a week. They have very busy jobs, just respect that.

would EC go in the resume?
what else would go in the resume?
and what would go in the (6) everything else?
is there even anything left?

Resume would include all of the following extracurricular activities: clubs, organizations, community service, summer experiences, employment, athletics, music, arts, theatre, etc. -- pretty much everything outside of the classroom you have been involved with.

the (6) everything else refers to any miscellaneous information that makes a student unique -- such as athletic recruit status, legacy, interview evaluation, faculty support, etc.
